    The Ghiara

I wanted to experiment with the Laowa 15mm PC, to look at certain aspects of its performance. I used the flamboyant architecture of the Ghiara, about the only interesting monument in Reggio Emilia as a subject. I wonder if the perspective distortions, fit well with this Mannerist architecture, which was all about visual trickery.

These are all 3 frame HDR combinations shot with my Z7/Laowa 15mm Zero D shift, mounted on a monopod with feet. I have just discovered that setting the shutter release to timer, the camera makes the three exposures with just one press of the cable release.

    Volcanic

Stayed a few nights at the Parador hotel in Tenerife's caldera. Awesome landscape in the true sense.
The first shot looks down from the summit of the rock in the second, onto the Parador.

You just have a completely different eye in the things that you see than I do. Do you sit there and wait for that or do you anticipate it and capture it?

Meaning you think the others are too vibrant?

Yes I found the colours in the other two to be a bit too saturated.

I assume that all the photos were done with shift, presumably to avoid excessive areas of floor in them. But I am not sure what you mean about perspective distortion, though the last photo looks rather odd to me. Possibly one needs familiarity with the actual scene to detect these.

It is a pity that there are so many horizontal struts to be seen. Are these for the purpose of stabilizing the building?

What effect does the HDR have? Do the timings reflect one or three exposures?

    More commentary would be interesting.

    The Ghiara

Your documentaries of the cathedrals is wonderful. This set feels the best I've seen.
The first 2 pics don't seem to have too much perspective distortion, just some of the upper parts on the sides. But the last is perhaps unfortunate in the leading corner of the chamber towards the top.
But honestly, I just ignore it and allow the intricacies of the architecture and artwork to shine through. I am not a traditional religious person but if ever I found myself in Europe, I think I would have to become one of the tourists at these cathedrals...
I'm guessing the horizontal rods? are for stabilisation?

Beautifully exposed, very grandiose. To really nitpick, I find the horizontal ones a little tight at the bottom and the vertical ones needing a touch removed from the bottom. But as I say, nitpicking.
