The Bees are enjoying the crocus again
For some reason I haven't found much enthusiasm for photography recently, but seeing the bees all buzzing around the crocus, on a nice sunny day today, got me reaching for my camera again.
... so, fresh off the press, here's two shots made and processed just half an hour ago-

Yo have had all the luck on your side of the Alps. Lots of snow, and now crocuses. We are still at the catkins stage here.

I think we all get a bit of photographic burnout from time to time. Maybe time to find some new subjects. Or maybe just wait for spring to get the sap moving again.

Wild daffodils for Saint David's day

The first signs of spring are appearing. Are these Welsh daffodils?

Well they're growing in Scotland! 😁 But they are wild Narcissus pseudonarcissus, which is native all over Wales, England and, apparently SW Scotland. These are just 10 minutes walk from home in Newton Stewart , and we used to have identical ones growing wild in our neighbouring orchard in Gloucestershire.

Impactful. Is that even a word?
Care to explain a little on the technicalities?

Thanks a lot! Perhaps Iā€˜ll try to explain the technique behind it when Iā€˜ve made a couple of shots of the setup… itā€˜s easier to show than to explain, even though itā€˜s overall pretty simple.

The tourist magnet where The Man With The Golden Gun was filmed. I went there as a teenager, it was quite the journey back then. Much easier last year. Wasn't as crowded as I feared and I managed to find a composition that made it seem even less so.

    Nice place, well composed.

    Last gasp of winter

We had -15C last week, today is +14C and I see some buds on the trees...

I remember it used to freeze inside of the windows when I was young. This reminded me these days.
And here in Kent, England, yesterday I had to scrape frost from the car's windows. But daffodils are everywhere.

    Lost and Found

I came across some of my early music photography, which I had lost, whilst sorting out a cupboard. I am still in convalescence, and it has rained solidly for two weeks, so here is some stuff from 1988.

Copies made with a Z7 + 50mm macro and a Nikon negative copier attachment.

Riccardi Chailly. A favourite ( subject who I have photographed several times)

I hope you get better and fully recovered swiftly. I like the BW film grain very much...

Sad to see this old timber building falling into disrepair. I believe Istanbul is famous for these old timber buildings.

Yes; earlier fires, later untamed urbanisation/concretization ruined many beautiful wooden houses.

I have a book by an Italian photographer, Gabriele Basilico, who shot some interesting pictures of these old wooden houses.

I never lived in one of them but I have been many of them. There were full beautiful details, I cant forget one them it was a wooden piece on the ceiling where the lights are hanged, it was intricate and beautiful. The old mosques pre Ottoman era during Seljuks were all wooden as well.
