My 12-24 Sigma wide angle had been gathering dust, for a good while. It would not autofocus on my D810 (incompatible), But playing around with it on my D850, I surprisingly found AF works for some reason. This lens dates from my days with the Nikon D70. Suddenly this lens has become useful again.

For my Sunday afternoon walk, I decided to go back to pre mirrorless and take the D850 our for a spin. I had forgotten the pleasure of a good optical viewfinder. When I got home, I found that my pictures were sharp, despite not having IBIS or VR. The Sigma 12-14, is still a good lens. I guess the heft of this camera helps reduce camera shake. I also dug out the 70-200 F4, which does have very good VR

I use my D850 on a tripod, for Architectural photography. I use live view 99% of the time with it. I have been mirrorless since the Olympus EM5, for general photography. The more button driven D850 is more pleasurable to use compared with any mirrorless, so I think I will repeat the experience.

    Wet Woods

We've had a lot of rain in the last couple of weeks, and the ground is sodden and swampy. So a daily walk has mostly been along the quiet Galloway roads. fortunately there are some beautiful woodlands along the way.

The trees are a mixture of conifers and broadleaves, with the beeches giving a rich russet carpet that contrasts beautifully with the vibrant green moss that grows so well in our temperate rainforest environment.

Stone walls also have their moss overcoat.

    The Flamenco dancer.

This tree always catches my eye whenver I pass.

What's going on there? Is he trying to imitate one of the lions?

Like having a new lens then. That's nice.
    The D850 is a beast.
Some of these, particularly the 5th, have a slight diorama feel.
The last is a nice shot.

Holy cow! That moss is amazing. Especially on that stone wall.
And yes, the fallen leaves make a great contrast.

This past week, I finally got around to processing some of the photos I took last Christmas. One of our assignments for my camera club was Intentional Camera Movement. I am curious about your thoughts on some of my initial efforts.

6 and 7 are my favorites of these. The others are lacking a clear subject/hero.

The first and second to last are my favorites of these.
