A nice composition with wonderful light and colours. Your photo sums up why dedicated camera sales are diminishing too.

Light and shadow. This type of shot is like an addiction for me – something I can’t stop myself doing, but still dislike. I’d like to make different types of photos, but when I see an opportunity, I can’t resist.

Some macro stuff, from a couple of weeks ago, in a nature reserve near Reggio. Stacking out in the field is pretty hit and miss as even the slightest wind causes problems

The composition, reflections and evening light are perfect here. Cell phones make disturbingly good pictures, for those of us still invested with traditional cameras.

The composition is great, the warm colours from the setting sun really do shine out on the brickwork, and that glass front mirrors it all so well
I also like the "small" tower placed nicely at the end of the street :-)

There are probably ways of curing that addiction, but I'd advise against trying ;-)

A good question. I think we as photographers are drawn to "interesting" light like the high contrast light in this shot. Why you take pictures in this style that you dislike is probably because we are so used to seeing unusual lighting situations like this in other peoples pictures, which attract our attention. So we make a picture that will attract attention too.

    The fairy ring

On a walk last year called "The 3 lake walk" in Carinthia we came across this stone circle. A fairy ring?

    Wood of Cree

We're back up in Galloway this weekend for the last time, clearing the last few things from the house and visiting a few favourite places. This is another fragment of 'Celtic' temperate rainforest - excpt that there has been not a drop of rain in five weeks now. The river is running very low and the mosses are all dried up. The plus side is that there are some places where you can see right through the clear water without distracting ripples and flow. There are also pied flycatchers and wood warblers to be heard - and glipmsed if you are lucky.

Gorgeous colours and great composition. It's so good that we have a means of capturing these kind of scenes on the spur of the moment.

A nice selection. My old EM5ii doesn't have in camera stacking but I do often use the focus bracketing feature hand-held for flowers, then stack in Ps. It often works quite well, though as you say, the slightest air movement can wreck it.

Yes, I love contrasty street photography too. More difficult to get right than people think. Forgive me but I was tempted to have a play around with this one. Hope you don't mind.

Yes, the shot needs that tower as a little focal point.
