Canadian Forest fires photographed in Italy

Keeping to the Green theme. I did a short walk in the high Apennines on Sunday. There was a strange sort of heat haze that I could not understand as it was chilly and very windy. I later heard on the news that the "haze" was smoke that had drifted across the Atlantic, from forest fires in Canada, in a very thinned out manner. I thought I had gone out for some "fresh air"!

I returned to a Pine tree that hangs on on one of the mountain slopes. I have photographed this tree over the years in its fight against its environment. It seemed in rude health this year.

Did some macro, but the wind made things difficult.

Tomorrow, I'm heading off with a small group for a hiking holiday in Slovenia—such a stunning country!
The last time I was there was in 2021, when I took these two shots. One day during that trip, I was feeling a bit under the weather and decided to stay at the hotel while the rest of the group ventured out. Later, as I started to feel better, I set off on my own and found this pretty waterfall.

The macros are bright and colourful and full of details. They make good use of the light !

Yes, the old tree looks distinctly bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.
How odd about the smoke. Every year for about a month around April our cars here are covered in Sharan dust. I rather like that fern shot and the little euphorbia.

Have a great time. It's really nice and quite rare for me to have a bit of time in an unusual place to take nice shot such as these without having to allow for other people's impatience.
