    Santa Teresa.jpg

On my way to a (fabulous) restaurant on the outskirts of Rio, we stopped in this tiny town, fleetingly, to buy some water. I would had loved to gone back and spend some more time there. Santa Teresa, such a vibe.
And my apologies for a lack of participation last week due to a birthday party at my house.

It looks like a nice place. Trams are always fascinating.

    Medieval days in old town

Over this weekend there are medieval daysin old town. It's center is in town hall square where various handcraft is sold and concerts given. There are also other tours and concerts, I wanted to go to Rondellus' concert Sabbatum, where they play Black Sabbath music in latin, with medieval instruments and settings. To my dismay this concert was sold out, so I just walked yesterday evening in old town with my camera. It's raining a lot here but yesterday evening was sunny so old town was filled with tourists and locals, but only main streets and squares, other streets were quite empty. I guess in tourist maps only 3-4 main streets in old town are shown :D
    Some shots with OM-3, SOOC.

    Vézelay

As part of our holiday, Vézelay was a stopover on our way back from the UK. The Abbey is this small village is considered a masterpiece of Romanesque architecture, even if it suffered the heavy handed restauration of Viollet-le-Duc in the Nineteenth Century. In fact the outer façade is a complete rebuilding of the existent.

The inner entrance into the Nave and the column capitals are the most remarkable features in this Abbey. The Choir area is Gothic.

The place was deserted and I was able to use my 24mm PC on a tripod.

    Whitbarrow Scar

After months of looking at this limestone hill across the valley from our new home, we finally made time to get over there and do a bit of exploring.

The steep sides have been quarried historically but are now mostly wooded, including some venerable yew trees.

    P7095148.jpg

There was a cave marked on the map, reached by a slightly precipitous path. Not sure it was worth the detour...
    P7095150-Pano.jpg

Emerging onto the plateau into a different world. The thyme covered hump looks like an inviting place to sit and admire the view... But I wouldn't recommend sitting on this beautifully upholstered anthill 😁
    P7095154.jpg

One of the 'summit' cairns, looking toward the Lakeland fells - that dog's tooth wreathed in cloud will be Pike o'Stickle in Langdale
    P7095156.jpg

In the other direction, Morecambe Bay and the distant hulk of Heysham power station.
    P7095157.jpg

    More thyme...
    P7095159.jpg

Returning to the car, the nose of the Scar is quite impressive from below.
