Walking

A Veteran

Went out into the woods yesterday with a group of people interested in woodland. There was much interest in this tree, an oak, estimated to be several hundred years old. It is now surrounded by woodland, but judging from the shape of the canopy was once in a more open position allowing it to spread widely.

You can more easily judge the size of it here...

This is interesting in so many ways. Nice colour contrast. Social comment. Shadow details.

Immediately made me think of a Japanese zen gate. The lone walker, small in the image, makes you look more closely. Excellent all round.

Kirtling

I found this church with a lovely Norman entrance, near Newmarket, in a little hamlet called Kirtling.

We went to the races, and saw Ricard Ashcroft. iPhone shots.

Pretty church. I've seen tombs with the knight's feet resting on a favourite dog, but this looks more like a griffon?!

That's one impressive tree !!
A true surviver.

Nice and dynamic, with the coloured path on the left echoing nicely the bin man. Cool how you have made a good picure out of nothing much.

Certainly a splendid English oak. It seems to have lost a couple of lower branches with time.

Just passing by and noticed this massive example...

Good but better if the human was more obvious.

The shard! I love GM5

The angle and processing gives the neighbouring building an equal billing to The Shard. An original take.

Intriguing shot, this couples hands make it look like they may have argument. But binman is taking viewer's attemtion away.

Mighty and interesting tree, it seems to have many photo possibilities. First shot is my favorite, these rocks add balance..

This is interesting character.

This shot cropped into would create nice decorative pattern with this interesting bark texture.

What an angle to approach architecture. BW works well, no colour distractions, just lines and angles.
