    An Abbey on Lake Como

The "Abbazia Santa Maria di Piona" in opposite the church I showed last week. It sits in a secluded spot at the head of a peninsula. I wanted to photograph the cloisters, which is its most interesting construction. The church and cloisters date from about 1250. The builders of the church played a nice visual trick. The church narrows towards the Apse, to give an exaggerated impression of length. The Cloisters are not rectangular either.

    The builders initials

Fascinating. A trick similar to Greek entasis, also used by Lutyens on the Cenotaph but in those cases, vertically.
I love the initials, I'm a sucker for stories like that.

Excellent shot. Puts me in mind of some 1970s thriller. There seems to be some kind of ghostly shadows on the lower (right ) part of the walkway?

Yes, reflections in the glass 'railings' of the high tech roof structure.

I bought a new camera on Thursday. Today, I wandered around Manchester with it. The graffiti art was superb.

It is a very interesting set. These are very primitive conditions for even the 9th century, and I find the Vikings very barbaric. I guess living in a very hostile environment shaped them.

I can definitely see it. Congratulations on your new camera! If I recall correctly, you mentioned you didn’t like the X100VI. How did you find your X-E5?

It's weird. I like it - but it looks around the same dimensions as the X100VI. There's something different, but I haven't figured it out yet.

Results above are certainly excellent; and the mystery of why you prefer this to your earlier Fuji interesting!
