Varied Shades of Autumn
I've managed to get out for a couple of woodland shoots since last week's post, the first in Brinscall Woods with the big camera (GFX100S). I trudged up the steep lane that runs alongside the woods and leads to the moors specifically to reach the Heaton's Farm / Hatch Place ruins that sit on the higher part of the woods that I rarely visit, without going through the lower section as I knew I'd get waylaid and distracted on the way up if I just meandered through the woods. Unfortunately, upon reaching my planned location I was not treated to particularly good light. Also, because this is one of the more exposed parts of the woods (the steep incline leading up to the moors tapers off at this point, so it gets more severely battered by the wind) I think I may have missed the best of the autumn colours up there as, apart from a few small sheltered trees, there wasn't a lot of warm tones on show.

A later trip to a sheltered part of the woodland around Anglezarke seemed more successful in terms of vivid colours. I don't think I've explored this area before and judging by the lack of trails leading through it, I don't think many others have either. On this occasion I didn't fancy lugging the GFX and its heavy lenses, so I opted form the much more manageable Nikon Z8 and 24-70 f/2.8S (I think the first shot is with the 70-180 f/2.8).
I quite like the colours here, although I don't think the compositions are particularly strong, I prefer the Brinscall shots on that front, although it's fair to say I wasn't really feeling it on both occasions while I was out, unlike the last week in Brinscall woods when I felt completely in my element.
