I had a photo opps. trip on the back of a work appointment. It got cancelled, so nothing new this week. So here are a couple of shots from Val Venosta.

    First snow

Last weekend went for two fairly local walks in the mountains to enjoy the fresh air and kick up some of the powder snow with the snow shoes :-)

Here's 3 looking up at those misty mountains

Beautiful. I can feel the cold air!
Although I love to walk in the mountains, I've never been into rock climbing. But when I see the mountains like this, I wonder what it would be like to stand up there just for a moment...

    Some autumn shots

Have been sitting inside whole week so something from my walk 2 weeks ago.

Smoke on the water. played with in-camera ND filter

This one is beautiful. Colours of the rocks reflecting the colours in the sky.

    Under ice lid.

These two are both great studies of sky and land. I think I prefer the first, as posted in the other thread, but both capture that sense of open space perfectly. I might consider brightening the foreground on the portrait format one.

Bosphorus is seen from Sarayburnu ( Palace's point). It was a very wet morning. The boat is a passenger ferry that runs between Eminönü and Kadıköy and the bridge is the Bosphorus Bridge.

Captures the feel of the wet morning so well.

We got a first sign of snow recently. Former estate of a local newspaper magnate from 1930's, small hospital specializing in hernia operations at present..

An elegant building for a hospital. The russet tones of the remaining vegetation give the scene just enough warmth.

Tail end of autumn makes for some very attractive woodland shots, with just enough 'autumn colour' to liven things up without overwhelming. These first few are very pleasing.
    Swamp thing... strange!

I appreciate it's not the most dramatic of the three but something about the second makes me yearn to be there.

Thanks WM, I think the attraction of the second one comes because you get the feeling you can easily step up on to that first gentle slope in the foreground and then you're on the way to the distant peak.

Sailboats - I was raking leaves in the back yard and saw the boats coming. So I grabbed the camera and took some pictures. It was fun. A nice day for sailing. This was the "Winter Vashon" event sponsored by the TYC. Here are a few,... a lot of pics... but maybe interesting to those who sail or have sailed in the past. :-)

The IQ is excellent! Very nice. Great that you were able to snowshoe. I am waiting for snow here. Unfortunately right now, the temperatures are 10F (about 5 or 6 C) above average with a lot of rain.

Wow - your back yard has an amazing view. The three boats at the same angle, third from last, is my pick.
