The colours in the first and last, together with the billowing foreground in the last make great bookends to this series.
I always find herons slightly amusing; they seem to take themselves so seriously 😁. Your reflection shot is great. 😁
If this place is just for 2 then it seems to be paradise indeed, with all the clouds in distant horizon. But on top season it's probably quite crowded.
The blue tones seem to be quite dark, I imagine that in reality sea and sky are bit brighter?
Um, are you thinking in fahrenheits? -6C in itself is not cold (ca. 21F) but just perfect winter temperature IMO, but with windchill it was nasty (-15C, 5F).
First image is nice, well exposed and lens creates nice stars. But I think that compositionally it is capturing bit too much, there are left and right side competing for attention with their bright and colourful parts, divided by dark trees and roofs. I think that cropping out left half simplifies it and makes it more balanced with bright light trails leading eye to distant city buildings.
Love the layering in second image: boat, forest and mountains. Third image is again great, with well balanced light and colours. The locomotive looks like predator with its pipes :D
THANKS for the critique/input regarding #1. Much appreciated! I will fiddle with some cropping and see what I can come up with. I think I mentioned this previously (in this thread or in landscape)... and that is... the benefits of cropping. Sometimes, I will go back months later, open an image, and edit/trim (crop) a little bit - which helps a lot.
LOL. I understand. I agree... that is a nice refreshing temperature! :-) Yes, 20F (-6C) is "not THAT cold" but it is indeed cold (i.e., for Seattle). I believe our record low is 0°F (-18°C) on January 31, 1950, When skiing, I have experienced temps in that range many times... 20F to 0F (-6C to -18 C). I was in Alaska many, many years ago during winter and the temps were VERY cold (-20F; -29C) and at that point, it is just plain COLD... and frankly, once you get down in that range, as I recall, -20F doesn't "feel" that much colder than... 0F or even 10F (as I recall). It just feels... very cold. I was lucky to be able to go indoors for warmth as needed. But even with that in mind, if you were stuck outside, +20F would be much preferable to -20F.
I finally had a moment to take the tour. What a great start to the year. I like the last 3 the best. Sometimes I miss things due to the daisy-chain format. And I really do miss the old DPR "threaded view" but that's another story and another discussion. Although it is one of the reasons I migrated here... and also to send sent Alan and Bob some money to pay for their pub grub. Plus, the great folks who kick-off these weekly threads. I really appreciate their engagement and thoughtfulness.
