    The Wintry Moors

    You Call This A Path?

The path down Standing Stones Hill was also very icy. The sun is getting quite low by this point and I was keen to get off this part of the moors before it had set.

    Icy Yarrow

The river Yarrow winds its way around the southern boundary of Chorley before joining the Ribble and exiting to the sea. By the time it reaches Chorley it's quite a substantial river, so it's always surprising to see this humble brook it begins as.

    DSC_1203.jpg

    Fallen Wall

This is one of the field boundaries near the Hempshaw's ruins. Like many of the walls on the higher moors it's slowly crumbling due to lack of maintenance.

    DSC_1207.jpg

    The Final Climb

Having passed by the Hempshaw's ruins, I was faced with this steep climb back up to the foot of Spitlers Edge. At this point I was rather glad I hadn't followed the longer route I was initially considering, not to mention questioning my sanity for even considering it.

    DSC_1221.jpg

The last few are the best for me. Do you feel your fitness level is improving now you have a little more time to spend on yourself?

Took another evening walk in the nearby park with OM-3. It was quite cold and my fingers got frostbitten but got some ok photos.

Don't know why you put these two out last! Excellent.

I made it like portfolio where best shots are first and last, to create this most important first impression and then end with bang. ;D

    The Wintry Moors

For the most part I stuck to the peaty soil at the side of the stones to avoid breaking my neck or more importantly, my camera!

    Misty Moors

This is looking directly into the sun as I made my way down Standing Stones Hill. Fortunately, for once, I'd remembered to bring sunglasses, otherwise this would have been very uncomfortable. I like the way the backlighting illuminates the mist in the valley.

Yes, it was mostly sunny, but a bitterly cold east wind - glad I'm not on the North Sea coast!

Yes thanks, I'm definitely feeling an improvement. I'm walking at least 2 to 3 miles most days of the week, but also squeezing in a few more challenging walk a couple of times a week. I managed a six mile walk last week that would have seemed impossible for me a few months ago. The heart medication makes it difficult to really push myself as it's virtually impossible to get my heart rate above 120 due to the beta blockers, so I still need to pace myself when going up hills, but I'm seeing slow and steady improvement due to simply getting out for an hour or two most days. I just need to keep it up.

    Testing

I was in town, and the main square was deserted. I liked the way our Duomo was illuminated. Shot with my iPhone and corrected in post. I will have to redo this with my Z8 and shift.

    duomo_2.jpg

A pretty grim time for photography, it has rained here when I have planned something. Next week I am in good old Blighty for a funeral, but I think it will just be iPhone, as rain is forecasted in the UK too. Actually the pictures for stuff we do not really care about, or happy unexpected encounters, are very good on the phone

This one appeals to me as an abstract and...
I noticed 2 human figures walking on the beach with 2 wondering dogs (rhs). Interesting juxtaposition with shells as a background.

Yes, I also like shooting with the phone... especially for close-in stuff and available light photos. There is just a ton of dynamic software/processing going on behind the scenes in regard to "gaining things up" to achieve a reasonably pleasing exposure/balance. Quite impressive.
