There's been a bit of everything this week; wildlife, weather, landscape and so on. Equipment wise, I've mostly been using the Z8+24-70 f/2.8S and 100-400 4.5-5.6S, but the GFX kit came out for a play on one morning too.
Some Misty Goodness
It's always a treat when there's a bit of mist, particularly as we don't seem to get a lot around here. This shot is looking across the fields that separate The Nab from Anglezarke reservoir towards Stronstrey Bank.

Returning to The Nab on the same afternoon, here's a selection of some of the trees from the upper reaches in the mist.

Unfortunately the mist didn't extend down into the woods, but this is the scene that greeted me when I emerged at the foot of Nab Wood.

The Waterman's Cottage
Taken from the bank of Anglezarke reservoir, which currently contains more grass than water while they continue to work on the dam. The cottage is situated beside the point where The Goit (the canal that runs from Roddlesworth to Anglezarke) enters the reservoir. The cottage is looking in a bit of disrepair these days, which is a shame as it's a nice old building.

Assorted Wildlife Action
I haven't had much success photographing the local Kestrels this week. When I spot them they tend to be simply too far away, but I did get lucky with this reasonable shot.

No such problems with the deer though, I've seen them in abundance and in the case of this particular shot, I virtually bumped into them as they happened to cross the woodland path I was on right in front of me and I had just enough time to grab this shot before they bolted off into the undergrowth.

I noticed this Robin stood on a fencepost and managed to get reasonably close before it flew off.

Since taking an interest in Kestrels, I'm tending to notice more birds of prey while they're flying in the sky. They've got a particularly lazy looking style to them as they cruise effortlessly at high altitudes, circling over fields, looking for prey. I spotted this common Buzzard looping over the field I was stood in, but it never really got close enough for a good picture with the 100-400 (on the Z8 in this case), so this image has been cropped and upscaled quite a bit. Still, it's another interesting bird to keep an eye out for.

Finally, I caught a group of deer running across a field, effortlessly leaping over the fences, well, except for the one bringing up the rear who seemed to be a bit lacking in the fence jumping department.

Dismal Dawn and Creepy Trees
Noting that it won't be long before the clocks go forward and catching a sunrise becomes more of a challenge I made an effort to get out early enough to catch it this week. Unfortunately the sunrise didn't get the memo and was a no show. This is the image I lugged the GFX100S, a couple of lenses and a tripod up The Nab in the dark to capture. As images go, it wasn't really worth the effort, but I think this composition will work if I'm lucky enough to catch a good sunrise, so I will try again over the next few weeks, weather permitting.

Still, it wasn't a complete failure, as I had a nice walk around The Nab and returned through Nab Wood, capturing a good selection of creepy trees along the way.

It looks like there's a bit of a party going on here.

I'm calling this one Guardian of The Stones.
