    A Break in the Weather

    British obsession with the weather...
Although we haven't had the incessant rain of some parts of the country (Cumbria being the dryest part of England must be some sort of record!), we haven't seen the sun for what feels like weeks. But yesterday there was a brief lifting of the gloom, and some beautiful pastel colours in the sky. I still haven't been out and about much for photography, but the view from home does compensate a little.

    Music

Last week I visited Anton Corbijn's photo exhibition in Fotografiska and it let me bit puzzled. Corbijn is mostly known for his portraits of musicians and in exhibition was more than 150 photos presented so it was good overview of his work. If he had presented his photos to some of today's forums then they would been criticized quite heavily: grainy, not very sharp, focus being sometimes in background instead of portraited person, composition not following rules etc. But these photos seem to exhibit character and same style throughout these 50 years he has been photographing, so I guess this and the famous persons in photos have made his work known and well regarded.

To continue with music below are photos from my first concert shooting this year. It is group of young musicians who played covers from 80-ies and 90-ies pop music. It is not the music I go to listen in the concert and I was more interested in second band, but nonetheless it was quite entertaining to see young players energy on stage and hear these old hits. To convey the previous century's feeling I shoot with my OM-3 and used art filters.

That is some view from home.
I am tempted to do a weekend thread where everyone posts a pic of what they see from their front door.

I have been tied up with things other than photography of late, including an unexpected visit to Scotland.

But this week after a site visit, I went over to the nearby Chiaravalle monastery, near Parma, to do some experiments with HDR. I think a nicer day might of helped. But I found SNS-HDR let me get the result I wanted with the first shot, compared to HDR in Capture 1

    The architecture is Lombard Gothic.

    SNS-HDR?
Lovely colour palette in #1. May I dare suggest we could lose a touch off the bottom?
No 5 is a great detail.
I though that was on UK telephone box at first glance in the last shot.
Those Italian courtyards are so calming.
