... were forecast this week courtesy of a saharan dust event. Well, that didn't get as far as Cumbria, but last night I happened to look up through the window shortly before sunset and saw that the trees beyond our neighbouring field were lit up by wonderful light. So I abandoned the cooking and grabbed the camera. All taken over the back fence of the garden.

Wow, that's the sort of light we photographers dream of. Stunning.
As for the glitch, you mean the wires? Just use the spot healing tool with shift to lose the little blighters.

I did wonder whether to remove the wires, but no, the glitch is in the grass. Probably not worth worrying about...

    In hide

Last Saturday I spent in bird hide in hope to see and photograph golden eagles. Alas, I saw only one flyby and no photos. Moreover, weather was cloudy and misty with occasional rain, so conditions were not the best for good photographs. But the white-tailed eagles came to save the day, they spent considerable time nearby and provided some photo opportunities which I managed to fail partially.

Here is action sequence I managed to fail with too slow shutter speed. There was 3 eagles: one pair and one young female. This young specie steals food from other female in quite spectacular movement by waiting for attack, jumping over other eagle, stealing food and flying away.

I really enjoyed these. It is so good and different to see nature acting out its routine in a series, rather than see just one shot.

    For The Birds

The weather has been a bit poor here over the last few weeks, so I've confined myself to daily walks along the local canal with the OM1. While this is a nice location, it can get a bit samey and I end up shooting relatively mundane subjects. Not quite in the ducks on the local pond department, but not far off...

On one day I came across this little fella singing its heart out...

I like this shot a lot, just because the Wren is just so dainty.

I wish I could look out of the window of my house and have these views! Number one shows us that you do not have to travel far to make lovely photo's. That light is just wonderful.

Nice bird shots, especially buzzard ones in the end. Here it's still scarce of migrational birds.

I have a couple of old cameras laying around.

Those old cameras are quite interesting, especially last one which does not seem to show any aperture or shutter speed setting possibilities. I googled bit and found that it's pretty much fixed for these parameters. But in era of low sensitivity film where most of shots were people shots posed in daylight it does not matter much.

    P2287937_DxO.jpg

This one is great, would bear a bit of cropping.

I wanted to keep same framing in sequence where other bird appears later and therefore didn't crop this shot more (it is already cropped from 20 to 14 megapixels). Moreover, it's shot over quite long distance (100 meters according to exif) in cloudy, hazy and rainy weather so it does not look so good in close inspection.
