A trip to Birkacre did provide a good variety of bird shots and I also had a lengthy encounter with the Buzzards by the canal that, as always, has me yearning for a longer lens and probably someone to carry it for me too.

All bird pictures taken with Nikon Z8 and Nikkor 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 except where noted otherwise.

I really like the first shot, and the Buzzards are impressive.

This set is from national library. This building was built during end of soviet era with corresponding quality and material. So if it was decided to renovate it some years ago the building contractor found out that building was in much worse shape than expected and cost increased significantly, over 15 million euros. But seems like now the renovation is completed and according to news library is moving back in their books and other items with planned reopening next year.
These images are processed in DXO, for fun I tried LUT grading on these pictures with bleach bypass type, seems to fit well without altering reality too much.

Front side. It's hard to take good shot of facade as it's big building and close to road so front view is spoiled with parking cars. Here is right half of building seen, main entrance on left side of photo.

The night monochromatic treatment works well for this rather interesting building.

Nice, here only walkaways on trees I've seen require basic training and attaching oneself to safety cable to not fall down from walk on rope or some narrow planks...

Interestingly enough when I photographed national library then similar work was done on street next to that library building, but I did not thought of photographing them...

After circling high above me for what seemed like an eternity to my neck (probably about 10 minutes), the birds began to lose altitude. They didn't do this gradually though. The technique seemed to be to briefly tuck their wings in and dive at breakneck speed before stretching them out again and circling for a bit before taking another dive. Fast, but nowhere near as fast as Kestrels can manage, those things practically teleport from one location to another when they do this sort of thing (at least from the perspective of your humble photographer wondering why it's just seemingly vanished).

Eventually, they dropped to a low level and, one by one disappeared into the trees. The actual landing in the trees looked really ungainly, a bit of a compromise between gliding in as gently as possible while tucking wings out of the way to not clip the trees during the process and unfortunately the full sequence was marred by many out of focus shots, but at least a couple were acceptable.

One final shot of the second Buzzard after it landed in the tree relatively close to me. This is the one with a big hole in its left wing.

I like these shots, these diving shots are great, in first it seems to create gliding shape with its wings and tail.

I guess like many, I needed to get out and away from the computer and the internet updating me on the terrible mess the world is in right now.

The Fontanili di Valle Re, is one of my favourite places for a Sunday walk. It is in the Po Valley plain a few miles from Reggio. Water flowing underground from the mountains surfaces here. There is a small nature reserve that echoes the primitive state of the Po Valley Plain. It is a place that I go to when I want peace and quiet. It was particularly nicely flooded this week.

These shots remind me of my childhood where in spring old river was flooding large areas in forest near our parents house and it was impossible to get through area without getting feet wet. But there was one factory in that area, surrounded with wire fence so in order to get by we climbed to that fence and used it to pass area on dry feet.

It has been a long time since I went to Kew Gardens last time. The platform looks pretty high, an interesting POV.

The world is f^§The world is f^§@ed, but I hope your personal worries go away soon. This is a very nice shot but must be viewed full to appreciate it fully. The first one reminded me of LOTR (Mordor's dead trees). I am reading it again after 30 years.

Wow. Just wow!
The others are good but there are tiny, tiny niggles, light on the face etc.
No 3 is great, no 4 too (I'd lose the guy in the background and bring out the headtorch beam.
But...the first is a stone cold masterpiece. I wish I'd taken it.

View to corner tower. Building looks like modern castle with its limestone walls and overall shape, only defense ditch is missing.

That’s a very photogenic building! It’s definitely worth taking some extra time to visit. I was surprised to see the resemblance between the tower and the British National Library.

This is a very moody shot.

Your Lenin photo and the information reminded me of Operation Gladio. I bet they were very active in this region.
