The first was an afternoon walk in Brinscall Woods. It was an overcast day and the woods looks like it is only just starting to wake up and moving into its Spring phase. Here's a selection of images from that walk (all taken with the Z8 + Nikkor 24-70 f/2.8S + CPL mounted on a tripod)...

Great series, these 2 are my favorites.

Vinyl was a much more rewarding music experience in as much as it gave you some tangible to hold, read and pore over whist listening. I can remember the names of albums back then but not now.
This is a good shot, shame you didn't have a little blip of flash.

I don't have vinyls, but hundreds of CD-s, I still buy them when at concert to support artists I like. I agree about tangibility, I know if I have some CD album or not but can't remember all the artists or their records I listen from Spotify, only some more impactful ones.
Years ago I used vinyl and was always bothered by dust and scratches causing noise, however well the record was cleaned. I tried also different cleaning kits, antistatic and what not (didn't resort to record washing though) but the issue was still there. Perhaps I was expecting too much...

About photo: yes, it was quite strong and contrasty sun light, but nowadays the image quality is sufficient to replace filling flash with some additional processing, here is quick fix for face in shadow by using reflector filter from DXO's Nik Color Efex:

For me the original image works much better - it displays entire market atmosphere, sunlight etc. The second one looks somewhat washed out to me.

I was near Verona for work, and when I finished, I visited a couple of sites for my Romanesque project. The Pieve di San Giorgio di Valpolicella, is a few miles north of Verona, in the foothills of the Alps. They also make a well known wine here, but I prefer the wine they make on the other side of Lake Garda.

It is a strange building with two Apse's as it was once a monastery and the Plebe and the Monks worshiped in a different parts of the church. It has a splendid little cloister attached. The inside of the church was nothing special, apart from a fresco in the western apse.

They were doing some gardening in the cloister when I arrived, and there was red and white safety tape in place. My first reaction was "shit a wasted trip" But when the guys saw my exaggerated photo gear, they were great and removed it, to let me take some pictures.

I’m glad that they let you make your photos; the light is very nice on those ones.

Art Deco (1930) building (former iconic department store) in downtown Toronto was re-purposed for commercial & residential space recently. External walls and windows have been retained to preserve classic architecture of the period.
Results are rather encouraging...

It would be a shame if they destroyed it all. I love the use of the natural stone throughout.

Music lover's backpack

Vinyl is making a comeback. My son keeps buying them. I never had a turntable and used cassette players instead.

I think these two areas show a very different character and hopefully this comes across in the pictures. Brinscall Woods feels very peaceful, the trees seem almost relaxed and protective. In contrast, I never feel particularly comfortable in Roddlesworth Woods, there's a sense of anger in the trees and parts of the woods feel downright eerie for no particularly good reason. It's odd and I can't explain it, but I've never felt that same sense of unease in Brinscall Woods, or most of the other woods that I've photographed in the area.

From your shots, I can see what you meant. Roodsworth Woods would make a great setting for a horror film. This particular shot is my favourite and it feels like the branches are reaching out to grab you.

ISTR LP cleaners were frowned upon by purists towards the end.
Yes, that has vastly improved that image.

I see what you mean about having different characters, though I'm not sure my interpretations would be the same.
This one puts me in mind of dancing furies (as in Greek mythology). Not to be messed with.
