    Gold Fish.jpg

Spent a few days fishing this week in Horsham, UK. One of those times where the weather thinks "what can I throw at them now?".
But every now and then there were beautiful spells of sunshine as here on this evening.
Sometimes I wonder if it's worth it to spend days preparing, setting up, packing up in the rain etc. but then the opportunity to sit in front of this lake with a glass of red and watch the sky put on a kaleidoscope display reassures me that it is.

Unfortunately my little Panny GM5's most used lens broke so I used my phone here. It did a pretty good job.
I have since repaired the lens with a bit of 3M tape.

I have a Pixel 9 too; it is a really good camera. I like to use its 14mm.
It is a very serene scene. This must be your reward for your bravery! It has been very cold last week; I presume you camped outside in this weather.
The glue that holds the 12-32's barrel is useless. Double-sided 3M tape is better than the original glue.

    Daredevils!
While travelling on the high-speed line, I stopped at Stratford station hoping for a good composition. The station has numerous lines and impressive infrastructure but I couldn’t find what I was looking for. This photo saved the day.

Nice one! Yes, I have no idea how those people do that for a living.

    Yes, camped outside.
The 12-32 is back up and running now. Great little fix. Didn't want to lose it as it is a very competent little thing.

    Serchio valley

The Serchio valley runs north from Lucca. It was my road home to Reggio, which involves a steep climb along minor roads up and over the Apennines. It has some interesting Romanesque buildings hidden away in small almost inaccessible hamlets. I have posted pictures of this area before here.

Piazza di Brancoli is at the end of a long winding single track road lost in woodland and olive groves. This little church has some marvellous carvings. I was about to go when a local lady passed by. She asked me if I wanted to see the inside and fetched the keys and let me see inside. I found this place by accident, as the Sat Nav did know my destination and I was using road signs and I had taken a wrong turning on my way to another site.

I was looking for the Pieve of Brancoli. I have photographed this place before, but I wanted to do some better exterior shots. I also just wanted to visit this church again.

Cell phones take astonishingly good pictures these days. So you had British weather at its best. The light is always good thought when rain has cleaned the air.

How nice of her to take the time. It was worth it too. A beautiful interior. And I like this door picture.
The soldiers are the frendliest I've seen. Aren't they supposed to look daunting?
What are daunting are some of the carved creatures in both places.

    Spring

Spring is now in full here, everything is green and smells like perfume section in mall.
But I tried to look behind that greenery and see shapes and lines not defined by colour. It was hard, more often than not I thought that there is something but when I raised camera set to the BW mode I saw nothing. But I discovered that dead and fallen trees are distinctive from everything else in forest/park. Here are some captures from wanderings.

Well this is all very Blair Witch! The very dark processing shouldn't work but it does here, adding a sense of menace.

    Sky Shadows

Last night we had a fine sunset looking out over the Lake District fells.

The further peaks casting the dark shadows onto the sky (half right) are the Scafell summits, Englands highest mountain.

Serene. Yes there have been some beautiful clear evenings, despite the chill. We had actual frost a few days ago.

What a couple of gems! The faces of those characters are very ... well, characterful, much more interesting than in most places. A gifted sculptor. The lions look quite friendly, despite their actions!

Those stormy sunsets are impressive. Taken from your garden?
