The Case Of The Ballpoint Pencil

The side effect of photographing my pencil collection, is that I have added some new entries. I came across a lot of cheap Parker pencils. It did not register with me that the prettiest one was something called a Liquid Lead pencil. At first I thought it was a Ball point when it arrived, but it left a graphite line. Internet solved the riddle.

Parker commercialised this strange ballpoint, with graphite instead of ink. They were produced between 1955 and 1962. The problem is they they did/do not work very well. Mine is a rare copy that still has a cartridge that writes. You can convert them into a Ballpoint Pen if you adapt a D1 refill. I used bits from and empty BIC
biro. I may try and acquire some other examples of this technological dead end. The idea was pretty cool, but a bit pointless maybe.

I have never played with "studio lighting. It is quite interesting and challenging.

A D1 refill and bits from an empty BIC biro can bring those that do not work back to life.

    A Wordsworthian moment

Wordsworth lived much of his life in Cumbria, about 20 miles or so from here, and daffodils are indeed widespread in the county. These are true wild daffodils, Narcissuc pseudonarcissus. There are lots in the woods just a few minutes walk from home.

The dark reflective background works well: the reflection add a little something.

    Foggy night, pt. 2

After shooting national library (photos in previous week's post) I loitered bit more around in parks and streets to capture that slight fog.

Road in upper part of old town. Here the colour difference of different street lights is well seen, for some reason in parks are used lamps giving this orange or bronze glow.
