Let's get some posts going! I've reached out to AdVeen from Review, to see if they would like to join Revived and continue their tradition of "This Week" posts for the Sony APS-C forum. In the mean-time, I thought I'd get the ball rolling for the first post, so that we can start sharing our weekly images. I have some images from this week that I'll share tomorrow, as I had my maiden voyage with the 200-600mm last night--and boy is it heavy!

Please reply to the thread and change the title of your post put the title of your post in bold at the top of your reply to better reflect your images. I look forward to seeing your images, and thank you for sharing!

First Outing with Sony 200-600mm Lens

I just got this lens and decided to try it out at a nearby park. There were several white pelicans that had created their own island, a few mute swans, tons of American coots, and a lone horned grebe. All of these shots were taken with a Sony a6500 and 200-600mm lens, and a few images were run through Topaz AI for denoising. Being used to the Sony 70-350mm, to say I was surprised at the 200-600mm comparative heft is an understatement! I was very impressed with the lens' performance, and I know I'll get used to its weight soon. All feedback is welcome--thank you for looking.

The pelicans were busy preening, and one fella in the back seemed to be having a rather great time.

The mute swans were very beautiful, and I got to see a mating pair feed together and embrace each other.

    A Hare then.

    btw.
Been some now since I did any but I used to craft, code and tinker with all sorts of (php/js) applications and figured for the PHP function exif-read-data to come in handy at some point in time, if this site is php powered that is.

No idea what Revived is built on, but you could let the dev team know that you could help with this. They seem really nice and open to members' efforts.

I'm afraid I'm out of it for too long allready and even then while I'm sure it would be very doable picking up from where I left off I have lots of things to do, obligations in and out of home, hardly having the time taking the camera outside. Figure I wouldnt be of much help once involved, better letting the pro's having a go at it.

The 200-600 is lightweight, trust me. A superb lens it is, but heavy it's not.

I hope Justin starts posting in this thread soon.

    Nice shots BTW, very nice.

This just shows my newbie colors. Being new to photography last year and only knowing the a6500 + 70-350mm combo as the heaviest I had in my kit... Didn't know how light and good I had it. Looks like I'm going to need to start doing pushups!

Its exactly half the weight of the 1999 Canon 500mm f/4 (imagine having to handhold two 200-600's...).

I was having somewhat 'itchy fingers' so I looked into it anyway but this forum is coded in Python upon the Django framework and I'm unfamiliar with the language/framework being a PHP/MySQL developer. Nothing I can do to help, alas.

I posted what is probably my last photo thread over on DPreview...so might as well add it here too to help kick this thread and this forum along.

Reminder for those that don't know - at least for now, it appears the image link for hosted images will significantly downsize images here - BUT, if you right click on any image and choose 'open link in new tab', it will display in the original hosted size with EXIF. Mine are all posted at 2400 pixels on the long side - hopefully as this forum grows they may decide to change the image hosted size.

You can make the image clickable by first pasting the image link into an image tag, then copy/paste the entire result of that action into the 'link text' field of a link tag while putting the (bare) image link into the 'link address' field of that same link tag.

Glad you're here! Always love your flower images. It doesn't appear that posts have titles yet, so there's no way to edit them. In the meantime, I've just been treating the top of my reply posts as the titles by making them bold. Probably just a workaround until the dev team kicks out a few updates.

Thanks for that! I went back and edited my post with your instructions, and indeed the photos can now be clicked to bring them up in a new tab full size. Hopefully they'll still make them enlargeable right in the thread, or default to a larger embedded size, but this at least makes it a little more intuitive for a user to see the larger version with a simple click.
