After looking at many reviews of the ZV1, ZVE10, ZV1F and the latest ZVE1, I believe the ZV1F which got hammered in many initial reviews seems to be a great option for the following reasons:
- Smallest and lightest. A true take anywhere camera
- Built in 20mm lens good for vlogging and no extra cost for lenses. The lens seems to have decent quality and the auto exposure seems to work well.
- While CDAF is inferior to the PDAF in the other cameras, it seems to hold up quite well
- Long record times / decent battery life for the battery size
- A good studio cam (e.g. overhead cam etc.)
- Great to put on a small gimbal if very smooth footage needed
- Functional but mediocre UVC 720p webcam
- Lowest price
For my use cases (Go everywhere vlogging cam / Studio cam) I would either pick the ZV1F or the ZVE10 as my top options with bias to the former due to pocketability. If Sony had only included PDAF and 1080p UVC webcam for an extra $100, would have been an awesome camera.
What are your thoughts on the ZV1F after the initial flurry of bad reviews?
