Congratulations! A nice looking instrument -- fixed aperture, I see! I like maple. Get practising and send us a recording! By coincidence, I ordered a new Mollenhauer alto (treble) recorder (Blockflöte) in grenadilla the other day. I should pick it up on Monday.

i tried around 20 guitars before settling on this one. I had the goal to buy a mid priced guitar to match the sound of my daughters high-end guitar and i finally found it.
i cant believe how different all the guitars sounded. It was the latest design Cole Clark guitar from the first batch of australian and 40% china made to hit the shelves. the idea was to bring a mid to high-end guitar onto the market at an affordable price without quality compromise. and boy they got it right. i went to the gold coast just to play all the hand made aussie guitars to make sure the one i chose was up there for sound and build. now i just have to learn some new songs and get my fingers back in shape 😁 do the recorders have there own special tone as well ?

Yes. Those designed for playing Baroque music are usually copies of famous makers from that time. I have several styles in maple: Rottenburgh, Stanesby, Steenbergen, and the new one is a Denner. Grenadilla is highly prized as a material for wind instruments, and is about 3-5 times more expensive than maple. But I decided to go for broke this time. There are pictures here. Sorry, all in German!

Wow that looks amazing. my daughters guitar is made of Tasmanian blackwood and is a beautiful instrument. i was very interested as to why it was a well regarded timber so i watched an overseas guitar builder on utube show the differences between timber resonance and the blackwood was like ringing a bell, while others where just a thud no resonance at all. so when i picked up the guitar i bought for the first time i was surprised how bright and lively it was, it resonated for what seemed forever and the shop owner said he had sold a few of them for how bright and modern they sounded. my old guitar made in japan is made of cedar and its just dull and flat and doesnt have very good mid tones so i just never picked it up after playing my daughters Pratley guitar. enjoy you new instrument it looks beautiful. It was funny when i bought my guitar as i said the the shop owner that ive had problems with my hands due to RSI and he said if you dont play it as much as you like sit it on a stand and admire how nice it looks 😆 and he was right i have it right next to the TV.

Looks like a wonderful piece of kit. Hope you have a lot of fun with it. One of my regrets is that I did not have the ability to play a musical instrument when I was young.

I am treading the risky GAS path of Audio, which is worse than camera gear GAS. Cannot decide between the Shure Aonic 5 and Sennheiser IE400 in ear headphones I bought for my portable DAC. They both sound good but different.

3.667 stops of pitch with standard tuning, 1.667 stops per string, in 1/12-stop increments! That's quite a camera.

i started playing when i was 30 yo im just a hack at it, but my daughter started music when she was 7 and its just like reading and writing to her as it was part of her schooling all the way through, but you still need a passion to keep playing. audio is the same as instruments they all sound different, no right or wrong just depends what your after in the sound reproduction. can remember going through the same choosing headphones for my daughters recording studio. in the end i just went with industry standard mid priced audio-tecknica brand.
