It's pinned site-wide, so it appears in all forums. That's what the small blue bookmark beside the thread means - hover over it and it says "pinned globally".

The news keeps getting better and better. Some of you won’t know DPR Greg7579, those who did, he was essential. I say was, as he suddenly disappeared from DPR, it became a much more sober and straight place after that. So looking forward to your unique enthusiasm again, here.

I guess what Greg says above rules out what I though. That you tried to register early when we had The Bug. It looked like we couldn't register and when we tried again it said our name was taken. Because we really did register the first time even if it didn't look so and could login with those details.
