    So ...

Don't keep images on your cards!!!!!

and don't keep the Cards into the camera

... these may be your revenue or ... but if you ,,.,.,.,

    ..OK..
Let me ExplaiN it in my way.

If you lose a 500€ body or a 5000€ one is your own pocket, your money that takes the shot,
and you don't have to respond to other people or to Justice

but what if in that body there are one or two CARDS ???

On my cards, I don't have 6.100 files... but on a three months logic...
    ....I may have 12.200 + videos. 6.100 NEF + 6100 Jpeg + MP4
    And ...
    ... NO, I don't have it.

    Follow me here

I keep clean my cards: When I reach home I download my session shots
so at any time, there are between 0 and 500 files on them.
And I don't start from home with Pics on the cards

    • No reasons to keep there the images
    • Having a nice PC, with nicer off-line 8Tb HDDs in a safer place **
150€ each, a lot less than a card

So far ... Reflections on why I'm doing so?

    .
1 if you lose a card ** everybody can access that content.

    • That can be a loss of money ... they can sell your own pictures, Exif can be replaced
if you are a PRO and hoping getting money from them, Safari shooters, uh ?

2 ...but it's not the main issue:

    • Just imagine there are faces of other people, Wedding or Event shooters, uh ?
it may be quite a HUGE Privacy issue FI >penal responsibility for letting other people's images out in the wild.

    -

Why to take a so huge risk ???

Maybe you think you have only your grandchild, uh?
Some Kids.... some family pics... Amateur shooters like me, uh ?

( why to expose them to some nice editing, and the risk of their face ending up on a pedo pornography site ? )

So start to think to take your shots on another level of security

Pictures are a risk for yourself

    .

My 2c are free for everyone, so I won't pretend to be right

    Hope it Helps

( Yes, I PostProcess manually my posts )

Why did you chose the form of "viral hoax"?
You are onto something, but the presentation is ridiculous. I would participate if you toned that down a little.

I skipped school the day they taught decrypting/decoding coded/encrypted messages so I have very little idea what you are talking about.

    But on this one line

is exactly what I think as well when I see people posting images of family, loved ones, friends in public forums.

I don't do any paid photography work and I mostly photograph birds, landscapes and generally scenes where people are not the primary subject besides occasional public music performances etc. I don't have kids either, currently not even pets.

If someone gets my mostly mediocre shots of those kinds on their hands, good luck trying to benefit from those. They'll certainly need it.

Edit: Obviously, this is just my personal point of view; your mileage may vary depending on what kind of photos you have on your cards.

What I offer is a "Warning"
Food for thought ... about your cards ... the security issues they may cause: It's related to your use.

You choose if that fit or not your needs. I did my job pointing out the issue.

You don't have to like or not like the content or the container,
while you can freely forget about it 'till a bad chance hit.

Like all older people, I offer what I know ... the way I prefer.

When I was younger I donate freely my sweat, my time, and even my blood to help others,
but now I don't care if you find it useful or not.

My offering is only for people that recognize it has value for them.

Because I know when I'm offering a diamond in a dirty fish's paper...
.. people do look at the parcel smell it ... and don't even see the diamond

( not caring enough to look what's inside )

    My 2c are free 😁

With the difference that you see what people "choose" to post,
and keep away what they don't post HIDDEN in their Cameras&Cards&Phone unaware of any security risk.

Usually, only bank accounts are considered a liability and at risk.

I was once a taxi driver, 12 hours shift at night... and found a nice phone, no security code.
Just 3 numbers stored none of them answering my calls in the middle of the night.

Checked the pics to see if I was able to recognize one of my previous Customers:
Together with full family photos... a lot of pictures of naked grandchildren playing in the water...
... that would have made happy any Pedo.

Finally, in the morning somebody called me back,
and I was able to deliver it with a paper note about security.

How many of you have a number to "call if found" written on the phone ????

( Yes, outside of your fingerprint-securized phone )

another of my free 2c, uh ?

    On a peripherally related topic:

I was once able to reunite a camera with its owner at Burning Man thanks to a photo of her young daughter… which led me to “Kidstown”… where I consulted with the “Mayor”… who’s own daughter looked at the photo and said “I think that’s Sophie” and walked me over to Sophie’s mom… Who was grateful to get the camera back…once she realized she’d lost it. (Sophie had the eyes of a child wise beyond her years. “Mom, you had lost the camera?”)

The first image on any card I use at a festival contains contact information, including indications of my campsite. I’ll also use P-touch labels on the camera itself as appropriate. My cards have my email address written on them.

Fears of children’s faces being photoshopped onto other bodies approach the realm of Movie Plot Threat in my own security evaluation. It’s not that it can’t happen, but it probably won’t. And there are more realistic, and dangerous, attack vectors to concern myself with. I feel the same about images on a (hypothetically, to-date) lost card.
