    Pumpville is an abandoned steam rail water stop in the Texas Borderlands. The dry climate preserves what the intense sun and heat does not destroy. Bones can last for several decades, people a few hours. Twenty miles between water sources is common.

    Two copies of the original image processed in B&W and color were composited together. Color is selectively revealed to match my perception of the scene as opposed to what the camera recorded.

    The ground definitely looks like it's from an area that's been on fire. A small bit of life from that. Neat image.

    Thanks for looking and your kind comment.
    This image was made on a railroad right-of-way that runs along the US/Mexico international border. The black stone covering and my processing are masquerading as fire damage. Not a very safe place to make photographs.
