It's taken ages to sort out, partly through our own stupidity and partly because the bank wasn't playing ball, but we now can accept donations via PayPal. This site and the web site are all paid for out of our own pocket. We take no income and any donations will be 100% put towards maintenance and development.

'The directors may, at their discretions, invite anyone making a significant contribution to the site to become members of the foundation. Donations are a significant contribution.

The PayPal link for donations is www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=JZUALJPSSX68J

I will be updating the web site in the next day or so (hopefully sooner).

Any questions or issues, please reply here.

    Cheers

    Alan

We have had two donations - so thank you both. But I don't know who you are as the email that sent them was not one that's on here.

Can you let me know if you did donate so we can thank you properly. A PM is fine (with the amount so I know it's you).

Thank you for the donations so far. It is very much appreciated.

If you haven't send me a private message telling me you have donated, could you do so as I cannot correlate the email addresses shown by PayPal and the usernames here - and I would like to thank you personally (and privately).

    Cheers

How often and how detailed will the public accounting of how the donated funds are used be?

I can understand your point but I don't think that it is completely necessary to have this sort of auditing at the moment. I am grateful that site founders for taking this hassle to provide me a friendly service and I don't want them to deal more red tape.

If sombody has made a small donation, it is because the believe it will help to keep this site going, and for it to hopefully grow. Keeping a site running costs money and I am more than certain that the team will use any donations in a sensible way.

BTW I think the reply in question is an attempt to cause mischief and bad feeling, rather than a genuine concern.

If you're happy with the level of auditing that is fine but not everyone might be and so I asked a legitimate question.

People can draw their own conclusions on what might be going on here by the absence, so far, of a response from the admin.

I said I understood your point. But it seems to me that you haven't understood my point. If the level of transparency is not enough for you, you won't donate.
Once you act and talk like that this site is a multi million £ generating charity, it looks bizarre. I hope this site grows and we come to a point that auditing is genuinely needed. For my part this is end of conversation, you can reply if you like but I won't engage with you further more.

I did understand your point and said it was fine.

But I and a few others have no idea what admin's intended level of transparency is because I haven't seen it posted anywhere.

So the question I asked is totally legitimate.

It's admin's choice to reply or not and people can then make of it what they like.

It's in line with normal company law. The accounts are available at the end of each financial year. Members of the Foundation have the right to attend meetings of the Foundation, examine the accounts and determine policy. There's no reason why they shouldn't be sufficiently detailed to show everything that is going on. At the moment outgoings are exclusively hosting costs and filing costs. Our present policy is that people who make a significant contribution to our activities (which includes making a donation) will become members of the Foundation if they wish - that is not compulsory, but it is offered.

I am sorting that out - hopefully today.
