I've actually seen that in other forums (not this one).
One guy will assume two different personalities and they will get in fights with each other. Other people join in and start supporting one side or the other and start fighting amongst themselves.
Meanwhile, the original poster sits back on his mother's couch in the basement and has a big laugh about how easy it is to manipulate people.
It's sad.

There was a guy on DPR, who had about twenty identities, to play the sock puppet game you describe and cheat on challenges.
The WWW is a weird weird world. The big social media platforms spend a lot of money on research in this area. There is some interesting things to discover online about the strangeness of the human race.
ive seen that happen on many occasions. even worst is they actually stalk posters and hit the complain button just to ban members. If admin are that stupid and cant see whats happening than the sites are not worth visiting.
