I realized after I had posted that the third shot hadn't had the sepia treatment applied. An error.

    Days before internet

Remember what life was like before the internet? Well, I have been reminded these last few days, when careless demolition work destroyed a very complicated glass fibre and, due to the demolition, in an area unsafe to repair. The phone is on the same cable and, and our cell phone network, weak at the best of times, is now totally overloaded and reminds of 56K dial up modems.
The joys of travel. I have internet on the train now!

These are very cool, not least because of the grime accumulation, but also for the unexpected subject itself.
I particularly like the third. It reminds me of a modern version of the Chinese clay warriors.

You have captured the character of the man and his surroundings so well and I actually prefer the first one, as the lean seems to add a bit to that character study. The black and white fits the retro feel to the image.

Good street is all about telling a story, and this scene prompts so many.
I think she has forgotten her phone and is annoyed at being cut off from the modern world. I know how she feels.

The lighting transforms this nice still-life into a really dramatic and engaging image.
    Nicely done.

René Magritte? No, it’s Lou Holland.
A tremendous surreal image of a train of lights emerging from, or disappearing into, a tunnel. Plenty of scope for thinking about it and inventing an interpretation.
    Excellent.

I think the surreality comes across. The finished pool seemingly is in the middle of nowhere , and the mixture of nature and machines in the background. What really makes the image is your grandson having a good time and enthusiastically playing with the ball, seemingly oblivious to the surroundings. Ironically the fact he seems not to notice the unfinished and temporary surroundings makes notice them all the more and ponder on them being at odds with each other.

Ha, ha. I was going to focus more on the phone, originally.

"How many times have I begged him to upgrade that old iPhone 10? Everyone else has a 14. I know we're gonna bump into Stephanie or Ashley or Megan. They all have 14s! This is going to be so embarrassing!"

Hi Roel , good to see you , still travelling the globe ? 😀 This is on the road to Glencoe, about 10mins before thunder and torrential rain kicked in . I am just back on my feet after some health woes and I decided to do my `100th Munro. A'Mhaighdean has about an 8-mile hike in then the 1000m climb the weather was so horrible { though it did drown out the midges } . This was about the only sunshine saw, I left the camera gear in the car the second image is from the peak taken with a Pixel 6 doing whatever software antics phone cameras use 012.jpg

Welcome and thank you for sharing two lovely images. Hope you'll come back and share more, and offer your thoughts on other images shared here. I admire the view in the one from the peak, and would never have made it to that summit to see that wonderful view. However, the valley view looks very familiar (except for the beautiful blue sky and puffy clouds, which I never found during my visit), and my stop at this unmarked road was after leaving Glen Coe (in the rain of course) headed in the other direction.

This late in the week, we don't get a lot of traffic on this thread so your images may not get the attention they deserve. You may want to repost them in the "new" thread version which launches tomorrow. Most of the action happens Wed-Sun. At any rate, do return!

    Hello Jim,
I have been absent in the past four days so I had not noticed this image of yours nor your message.
Minniev was kind enough to give me a heads up that you mentioned me by name (what would we do without her?)

This morning I have started the new thread.
May I suggest that you repost your image there?
Late entries (on Tuesday, sometimes even already on Monday) can run the risk of being overlooked or not getting their fair share of responses.
Better then to post new images.on Wednesday through the weekend
