Actually a way smaller change in terms of crop. The one you had is very effective as it is... I just find the bright areas and treetops at the bottom a bit distracting. The added contrast in your edit is great in my opinion.
I like how effective this is at getting its message across. Even without the title, I would have immediately thought of the theme, regardless of the bright colors. Well done!
I really like this shot - the composition and particularly the colors are great! While the boosted saturation will inevitably also increase visibility of chromatic abberations, I feel like it's absolutely worth it here in order to let those powerful colors shine - well done!
I hope the Teddy Bear story gets preserved again in the new mural. There has to be another story about the town name as well.
This feels like a photo project that is only just beginning. I think we will be revisiting Rolling Fork.
Both are beautiful and the combination elevates them: 1 + 1 = 3.
I do like the more conventional macro of the leaf with dew or rain drops and a tiny spider hiding, but the red one is more creative in that you provide us with a puzzle and an illusion. Always wonderful.
Yes, there is a great human interest story just waiting to be plucked here.
With your obvious empathy and knowledge of the circumstances, you are the right person in the right place to show us objective aspects as well as the subjective human subtext. Go for it!!
I daresay that you were clearly much inspired (and influenced) by Henri Cartier-Bresson in that period.
The contrasty black and white with pure extremes; the play of sun and shadow in villages with whitewashed walls and narrow pedestrian stairs that seem designed to be photographed, the human presence that takes up just the right space in the image.
I recognize much of HCB's signature here.
And that is not my way of saying that you are/were unoriginal.
Rather that in this kind of photography, you learned from the best and made it your own.
I'm not usually an early riser so don't have much experience of pre-sunrise walks ;-)
But I have noticed a different atmosphere at this time of day. A bit colder, quieter and often slower. And if you get the chance to wait somewhere, maybe you're considering what the new day will bring for you?
...same as yesterday probably, but who knows, today could be different.
I guess that sort of sums up what I feel when looking at your photo here.
A nicely captured moment.
Well the gate is closed but it's not locked.
So I guess I could just open it up and take a look around inside. I wonder what I'd find?
Looking through the little crack between the doors I can see something, but not much, I don't think my curiosity would be so strong to make the step to really open it up, ...or would it?
The more I look at it, the more my curiosity grows :-)
Snow isn't my thing but I think you have got the white balance about right with these.
2 and 3 use a foreground/background track to take the eye from the foreground up the impressive slopes. This conveys the height.
The second playing with shadows is intriguing. Skin like textures. There's an engaging progression from left to right.
