The repetition of arch shapes on the building, the bridge and inverted in the reflection, makes the shot. Add the verticals of the posts and on the building facade. The foreground boat is positioned to make the most of the silhouette against the reflection. It all comes together.

Wonderful. Another tick on my fog envy list. All the delicacy of the light fog gives. Just enough detail in the background to give the merest hint of place. Lots of kudos for highlighted water that takes us into the birds. The continuation of this line into the darker shape behind is totally masterful.

    Yes.
On top of that I like the orange in the top half (ok, there is blue sky too!) extends below the bridge and the shadowy blue extends over this by means of the bridge. The two arcs form an eye, and right in the middle is an almost silhouetted boat. Add the fact that the buildings are very attractive too and you have a winner.

The story and the title were worth it even without the photo.
Before I read, I looked at the image and saw James Web telescope gas clouds and some exciting straight lines that promised intelligent life somewhere out there.

An Australian artist, Geoffrey Smart, built a career with paintings based on constructions and street signs. These photos, especially 2, have the same appeal.

Without a doubt, your title shaped my response. The fine lines give a "scan" quality. Things are still being formed but the colours suggest promise.

Nice shot. Was it in burst mode or a single shot?

It was burst. I followed it vertically and than chose the best shot.

I get to take shots like these only when on vacation at the ocean.

I like number 2 of the second series best of all. The vertical bird in your first post is good but the capture with the head submerged is one of those glorious moments you could spend years trying to capture. Incidentally, the colours in the original post look quite different to those in the follow up post. To me, post one looks oversaturated.

That's three images this week with fog. My envy increases.
The bend in the channel pulls us deeper into the fog. It adds to the fogginess factor as we walk along it and objects fade out. The two figures are excellent- shrouded but identifiable.

As a travel tragic, I agree. What's the point of traveling to places that are interchangeable with home?
The position of the figure at the extreme corner is unusual. The red skirt helps in making her a subject. She looks, and her elbow points, to a building with a roofline that raises questions of place. The river then takes us to a bridge where once again another structure asks questions.
it succeeds, we ain't in Kansas now.

    MikeFewster,
I've looked at your photo several times and honestly, I don't know how to make a photographic comment.
I'll give you this challenge: If this photo wasn't yours, howould you comment on it photographically? composition, framing, aesthetics, meaning, etc. etc. ...

Thank you for the commenting. Colors could look different depending on the light. Sun or no sun, times of the day etc. Interesting, that this is a second time somebody mentions that my image looks over saturated. On my calibrated wide gamut monitor it does not.
