Absolutely love the black and blue contrast and the image framed in the arch with 2 towers and all against sky with rusty bits on the ground. Perfect set-up.
It‘s wire. It‘s a bit cumbersome to get into a proper position, but at least it stays in the shape you want it to…and there‘s no retouch necessary afterwards!
A general comment first. I looked at the CMine collection and there are several there that I prefer to this shot. Probably they warped the way I look at this.
The place is all about steel and I think the "steel"qualities come through stronger in others in the gallery. Here the curved framing dominates the shot and takes our eye down into the maze. I feel that the shadows are too dark and also that the natural focus point, the entrance into the maze is also too dark so when we reach that point, we need more details. Quite possibly, if the image could be viewed considerably larger we could make out more of the steel surface and the end point of the path. Perhaps raising the shadow detail a little might do it at the displayed size?
Shot 29, for example, is a similar composition but with lots more shadow detail and it , to me, works better. It says "steel plates" and links to the old mine.
Where is this? I can't look at it without thinking of Jeff Koons's "Puppy."
There's a satisfying greenness that dominates everything. I like your selection of angle that makes it clear that we have plants growing on the top of and beneath the overhanging wings. A neat gardening trick. The dragon engages by looking directly at us. Perhaps he's friendly? Perhaps?
I'd remove the small slice of tree on the left hand edge.
I assumed that this was a minniev post and was surprised to find otherwise.
It's the "Buy Fresh. Buy Local. Alabama" sign that makes the point and makes the photo. The overlap of the musician with the rectangular sign and then the line continuing through the guitar neck to the smaller rectangle of the music on the stand is great. The vertical speaker frames off the RHS. Gourmet Foods and the background woman shopping fills out the location.
Great shot.
