We are peeking over the back fence of Dali's home in Cadaques. The misalignment of the images in the panorama mode shot was so wonderfully Daliesque that I was delighted and had to leave the original just as it was without manual realignment.

According to the op we do have a "free pass" unless the image owner includes a request in their post to not edit the image.

I have posted several times in other places that I only post images that I don't care what people do with ( download them, edit them, sell them, whatever) because it is impossible to stop image theft after they have been posted on the www.

If you disagree with Roel's policy for his thread and you haven't previously asked, ask him to not include the "free pass" in future threads.

If he agrees with you I would think he will remove the "free pass" for people to edit other members' images without permission.

No, it's all reality. Once there is an image it becomes a communication. In this case, the communication was considerably more effective for the reasons I gave. There was perceived meaning in the colours used and their positioning. It's the difference between a photograph with purpose and a snapshot.
OK, what was the reality you thought youhad made when you took the photo and then made adjustments?

But then it comes down to the reference point for reality- the creator of the image or the one offering their opinions of an image.

An example of how to create portrait by using the surroundings rather than zeroing in on the face. The photo includes lots of benches and tables, all empty The space before the subject is completely empty. Well behind the benches and out of contact with the subject we have a small group involved in activity. The distance between them and the subject increases the message of isolation. While the face is towards us, the eyes aren't. The subject isn't communicating with us either. He is looking slightly downwards as well. If his gaze had been up, it would have been a quite different image as we would feel that something had the man's interest.
The image conveys Kumal's title precisely.

Precisely. It's all reality. That is the point of people sharing their perceptions on photographs. That is the point of participating in a forum. You have suggested that the interpretations don't match your intentions. OK. What about the second part of my previous statement. What were your intentions when you made the shot and adjustments? What's your reality Dan?

I fond it amusing you expect people to reply to your questions when you refuse to answer my questions earlier this thread and in previous threads.

The reasons I did what I did is part of the mystique behind my images.

People are obviously free to interpret my images however they see them.

When there are similar or conflicting interpretations then obviously some will be closer than others to the reality behind the image .

    A photographer's photograph.For photographers. By a photographer.
I recognize many past moments. A special trip was made for a special photo. I got up early. It's cold. I'm tired of lugging gear. Anyway, when I got there the clouds came in and I didn't get the shot so I had to walk back again.
All the eyes are downcast. It must have been tempting to crop in on this miserable bunch but I like what you did instead. The space and path in front of them suggests the long trudge ahead,
    I'm still laughing.

But you had been answered. You didn't get it.
My conclusion is that there is no point to your images, so you avoid the answer and try to convince yourself that this is "mystique." You sort of stab at effects and hope something comes off. This week it did. Congrats. What would you see as the point in anyone therefore spending time discussing your images further?

Your opinion is just one of many over the years.

Your opinions of my images often conflict with other opinions of my images.

I take into account opinions from everywhere my images/prints are viewable, not just from a handful of contributors here on dprevived.

We'll just have to disagree on this one.

With all due respect OP is not neither admin nor owner of this website, therefore has no authority to establish, implement or enforce any rules. Unfortunately, administration and ownership do not care about the protection of the authors rights by refusing to implement a rule to prohibit editing somebody else's images without permission. And like I said before, nothing prevents to just disregard the note. Also, I do not want any image I post to be re-edited. If you do not care, I do. Since we can not rely neither on common curtesy nor on administration protection, does not leave me much choices. I am done discussing this matter and wish you all good luck.

I don't see the point you are making because it won't matter where you post your images, there will always potentially be people for whom the concept of copyright means nothing and they will steal images they want to use for their own purposes.

At least in this thread the op has exercised his right to run it as he chooses to within the terms and conditions of this website.

No-one is forcing anyone to post images in this thread. If you don’t like the op's rules for his thread then I am sure you are aware of other forums on dprevived or elsewhere on the www you might be more comfortable posting your images.

I'm sure if someone posted an edited image in this thread against the posted wishes of the owner of the original image as instructed in the op then admin here would take appropriate action.

Perhaps you could explain why in your opinion threads like this one should not be allowed for those happy to allow other people post edited versions of their images as part of C&C or help with some aspect of image editing.

Another option is start your own thread somewhere and run it according to how you would like participants to act.

    Sage advice.

I have adopted a policy for myself of not replying. If no one replies, at all, period, what will happen?

Danhasleftforum will most probably continue posting as he sees fit but there will be no arguing because no-one will reply.

I'm going to post a second image here this week.

Taking down my flag as the sun is about to set on the West coast on this American Independence Day, July 4th.

My fellow citizens, in these unsettled days, pray we preserve our cherished democracy. Citizens of the World, pray for us.

Then we have stepped into another dimension! The fabric of Space-Time is ripping! . . . This is the Twi-Light Zone!

There is no need for me to do that because at the beginning of each thread Roel includes in his op -

    "PLEASE NOTE CLEARLY:
It is understood that unless the original poster specifically states that they do not want an altered image posted that you are free to alter the posted image and repost it in a reply for C&C purposes (no use for other purposes!). That reposted image may remain permanently or you may remove it after a short period of time if you prefer. No copyright disputes here!"

I am going to assume at the beginning of each thread that unless otherwise stated by anyone, they are happy at the start of the thread for their posted images to be edited and reposted as part of C&C or help with aspects of image editing.
