I love this image. Of course I am an admirer of cats as art objects, so that makes it easy for me to be impressed. But the scene itself is wonderful, with the cat in front of the sandwich advertisement, and the single feather just beside her. We aren't sure whether she's already had her (feathered) lunch, or whether her lunch escaped leaving his calling card behind, forcing her to shop for saandwiches. Well spotted and taken. Needs wider distribution on social media, it needs no caption but speaks for itself. Put it on Tik Tok or FB and watch it go viral.

Thanks for the lovely feedback. That last one is actually the view from the back of my house. So, I see it every day and hadn't considered it as anything special.

MIke, it was from the same walk, but I wanted the view with the chapel in for the chapel to use in their publications. So, it has colour in it (the building). But I do see what you mean and maybe it shouldn't have been included in the set.

Mike makes some good points here, but I would just like to add a couple of additional comments. The eye is also led by the colour transition of blue to yellow, which reinforce the graphic leading lines.
Although it is cold and no doubt the same temperature throughout the scene, there is a perceived transition of cold to warm, with the icicles prominent in the foreground emphasising the cold, and the yellow sunlight suggesting warmth. This transition from cold to warmth also leads towards Els, and that is no doubt appropriate!

I like all four of these photos and they make a fine series, albeit with the same comment as Mike about the warmer tones of photo 2, which you have already answered. The whites of this photo show no detail in the snow, but although it is technically overexposed, it works well as an image.
Photo 3 has a very surreal feeling to it, which is emphasised by the focus concentrating on the snowflakes and seagull. This makes the photo unusual and makes the viewer (me) stop and think about it.
Photo 4 is a beautiful winter scene, and is the one I would hang on a wall.

Love this shot. It's the juxtaposition which is of utmost importance.

    Alan,

It's the candidate for "lonely bench" entry...

It's a heck of a fallback position to have up your sleeve.
    As Fireplace has said.
I don't recall minniev using the square format much previously?? The half seen concrete blocks add cubist elements that mesh with the format. There's an implied diagonal line throught he gap top right, the bird and the burst of water, bottom left, that subtly links everything up.

Excellent. Like thought bubbles in a cartoon strip. This feeling is enhanced by the "thoughts" being in bright colours while floating above the almost monochrome cat and step.
And I love the tiny feather near the cat. Maybe one wild dinner didn't get away? Perhaps crop off some from the right so we don't see the incomplete bit of advertising? it would give a touch more symmetry to the image as well and I think that would be justified here.
