There's this amazing spiral viewing tower on top of the Grünberg in Austria. Even viewing it from the side, you get a glimpse of the breathtaking view onto Traunstein and Traunsee, that you'd be able to fully see from up top.

You have mystery and atmosphere and b&w to accentuate the capture. Well seen.

This is a kind of image i really like.We have warm and cold tones, we have an interesting situation, a nice main subject and no ugly goblins in the way. Instead we have traces of people. So, well observed and a reminder about always bring the camera.

The image is either well done or somewhat lacking - that depends on what the idea of taking the image was/is. For a snap - everything is fine. For something else, a detailed documentary type of image or an image supposed to be printed at around 1 meter/ 3 feet width it is lacking. So, I guess it is a snap but I also think it deserves another destiny.

So, here comes personal ideas.
I would crop away parts of the image. From start I would remove most of the foreground. When looking at the image in bigger format we don't really need the bottom part to identify the snowy situation. Then after that a part of the sky can be cropped away. Not as much as this time. Depending on the mood the sky may gain (or not) from a little more structure.
I did all that and got this (cropped at the sides - this is just for clarification):

There are three places marked on the image. I don't know what went wrong but when opening your attached image and checking it there are several places where there is a kind of color phenomena around strong contrasty things. Something with the conversion from RAW to JPG? Or JPG compression? Anyway, it should be an easy fix with another conversion which would make it fully possible to print this image pretty wide!

I see a very wide lens came to use. The best approach would of course be using a longer lens and take say four images and stitch them. Waste less pixels, get more details and less of the noise.
Well, as you understand i really liked this and I think it is fine whatever use of the image you make.

The ratio works well here: it emphasizes the long stretch of open umbrellas, all just about coinciding with the distant horizon.
Sun-umbrellas and snow make for an interesting, almost ironic combination.
The bicycle reinforces the surreality of the scene.

That's a pretty wonderful image. It's documentary, but it's also very original, and artistically impactful. The bicycle, the colorful furnishings and jaunty umbrellas speak to a season not yet arrived, in humorous contrast to the snow. The sky is wonderfully stormy looking, and the lens and settings combine to help the clouds and central umbrellas converge as a focal point, and the panoramic framing supports that. Could easily fit into a magazine offering like the Atlantic's weekly best photos.

In December 2016 and January 2017 we spent a few weeks in India, visiting a number of cities and sites in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
New Year's Eve was spent rather sadly in the bubble of the ballroom of our hotel, where we were mostly among other tourists, eating from a buffet, watching "traditional dances" and listening to a hysterical DJ's countdown. We drank a glass at midnight, toasted to new adventures in the coming year and called it a day.

I was up early on January 1 and went for a stroll through the sleeping city.
On this early morning walk I came to a place that looked like fun: a fairground and carnival.
Inactive at that hour, I saw that it was filled with the kind of mechanical rides and ferris wheels that have been banned in our western countries for decades, because of safety hazards. A smell of Indian food and sweets being prepared for the day invited me in and I talked to some of the carnival people.

Then I went back to the hotel and told Els that we would go for the planned cultural visits before noon and that we then would take a nap, but that I would take her to a surprise in late afternoon and evening. And so we did.
I guided her back to that fairground and we spent a few hours and had a ridiculous amount of fun at that carnival on that first of January. We were the only non-Indians there, so we quickly became an additional attraction, with lots of people wanting to get a selfie with us. We ate and drank and chatted and rode the rides. For sure one of the best nights of our whole trip and so much better than the sterile night before.

One of the attractions was a quite large replica of the Taj Mahal, made of cardboard and styrofoam, intended as a backdrop for photography.
There was a queue of couples and families lining up on the fake grass to get their photo taken by an "official photographer" in front of that Taj Mahal, famed landmark of their own country but so far north that many of them would never get to visit it in reality.

I looked for another angle and found this (Taj Mahal viewed from the side or the back, I don't recall exactly):

Two worlds separated by a rickety fence. The adults have their copied architectural masterpiece and the kids cruise the Seven Seas. The three make lovely juxtapositions.
It reminds me of a visit to a Funpark with the grandchildren last summer The paddle boats look the same, and many parents were frantic and shouting warnings and instructions, but the kids just ignored them and had fun anyway. There were two accidents, however, and in both happened during the tricky phase of standing up and clambering onto the pier, and in both cases it was a parent who fell into the pond whilst attempting to protect their kids from the same fate. Maybe those memories add an add extra amused smile and add to my enjoyment of the photo.

This is a great shot. Not only is it full of colour, pomp and ceremony but also tells about the fun of playing that music.
The big tuba is perefctly positioned to make the composition work

Nice use of the panorama format. Looks cold with that snow but the yellow colour in the umbrellas reminds me that the sun will soon be back.
