The second shot is on the walkway to Cave of the Winds. I believe it is at the base of the north falls, though I've never been. I think when I was shooting the negative, I put it in backwards, which mirrored the iamge. I just accepted the mirror because I'm so used to seeing peeople's iphone images. I tried to enahnced the color and contrast of the image, but the more I played with it, the more endearing the original, slightly washed out colors of the emulsion, became. Plus I thought my parents might like this look better.

    Interesting observations, thanks.

    Location:
The Iguaçu (or Iguazu) Falls are near the triborder Brazil-Argentina-Paraguay, but you cannot visit or see them from Paraguay.
They are a bit further south on the border between only the two other countries. (Paraguay and Brazil share the dam further north on the river.)

    Focus:
At F6.3 actually the WHOLE image is in focus (look at the trees beyond the falls - there is smudge there from water on my lens, but the trees are sharp too).
I think it would have been very weird to focus on the falls behind the people and not have the people in focus (with a smaller F-stop).
The fact that the falls LOOK unsharp is due to the motion of the water. I wanted that motion shown and not "frozen" with a faster shutter.

The first of your images was taken near the base of the falls. There are two falls in the second image: The American Falls and the Bridal Veil Falls. Only a small part of the American Falls appears in the image but the part on the right is the Bridal Veil Falls. The first image is taken from the wooden walkway at the bottom of the Bridal Veil Falls and taken from the American side. The second image appears to be taken from the Canadian side but could be taken from one of the tour boats that left from the American side if they did not come into Canada. I think the Maid of the Mist has tours leaving from the American side. I have a poor image below that shows the two falls from a wider angle.

I visted a cave system in Croatia but did not get your results. Was the cave well lit or did you use a flash?
I definately did not see the caves with your eye. I hadn't considered looking at the patterns as I would water, but it makes sense since it is made by water.

The textures seem to busy for my brain, but I realize too, how much the flowstone resembles the waterfall in Roel's image. The wider image (1st) gives me the impression of a waterfall frozen in stone. The people add to the wonder, why are so many visintg these falls?
The closer image (2nd) has the splash of blue light to complement the tan tones and I keep coming back to it. The tan rock appears to make lines that radiate out from the blue portion. I can follow a line to explore a small part or the complex textures, then back to the blue to rest, then explore another line and back to the blue to rest again.

Today's photos would have included more cellphones.

It is a nice, well composed photo that show both the natural beauty/power of the waterfall and the accommodation for our touristy instincts to view it en masse. I think I'd have raised the shadows/lowered highlights a bit, that darkest triangle beneath the platform is an eye magnet, and the spray of the falls probably has more detail than we notice.

I saw someone commented about the focus being on the people rather than the falls. Perhaps it was an accident, or perhaps it was intentional if the people were the primary interest. Hard to do both perfectly so there has to be some compromise, maybe moreso with m43 equipment. Here's a waterfall photo from Iceland where I tried to get reasonable focus on the nearby photographer, the waterfall and the distant tourists by using an aperture I would seldom choose otherwise due to m43 technicalities. It probably didn't work that well but it was a fun image for a keepsake.

Wonderful cultural travel photo with a fun angled leading line zigzagging our eyes from lower left into the upper right distance. The colors absolutely make this image an attention grabber - the yellow/red combo echoing in the flowers, the flags, the womens dresses.

To combat the dull gray sky, I would try dropping the lower half of a feathered radial filter into the bright area in the upper right and just slightly lower the highlights and raise the contrast to mitigate the washed out look the sky is creating.

Love the Niagara photos, I've been there on just such a day, and taken similar photos to your dad's.

Nice action photo of an activity I've only rarely seen (windsurfing not being possible where I live). No way would I feel inclined to this sport, even in younger more agile days.

You might try a conversion to black and white since there is very limited color here, and all in a limited range of blues. Sometimes you can do more tinkering with contrast in black and white with these kinds of images and get more differentiation.

Even though the sky is clear and cheerful, the wind- roughened water suggests there was a storm somewhere, either past or future. Otherwise a lovely view of a Mediterranean looking city in the sun past turquoise waters. My favorite part if the bird wheeling over the water.

You've done quite a nice job of getting good documentary photos of a cave interior. The lighting in caves can make this a formidable task. Then there's the angles, the ropes, the people in their queues, the shadows, and the limited color palette. You've managed to make the most of all those obstacles. Well done.

The composition is quite flaglike with the rectangle horizontally split in two and a meaningful shape at one end. The blue/grey monotones suggest storms. The surfer and sharp edged sail cut across ocean and sky. It's not a happy sunny day photo. This is about skill and the welcoming of difficult conditions for the challenge.

The inverted V of the butterfly, its off vertical orientation plus the slim wing line resulting from the angle towards the photographer, combine together to convey delicate balance. The wealth of fine lines on the butterfly and the background develop the impression further. Qintessential "butterflyness."

This is interesting. More the aftermath of a storm than a storm itself. Things still haven't settled down. I like the contrast between the relatively smooth sky and its horizontl clouds with the broken up lines of the water. The angled framing trees add a touch of unease as do the angled trunks centre foreground. It works.

Your image brings us a well spotted clash of colour and of different decorations for a single event.
    Flowers vs flags.

I really like both of those historic Niagara images.
(We were there in 2008 but remember the site much in the same way).
Your images provide two complementary sides of one coin: * a great general view that shows the scale with those tiny human figures on top of the waterfall * an image of presence and immersion (almost literally).

    Nice sports image.
The fact that we don't see the board because it is hidden behind a wave, adds to the drama and tension.

I like the first (good cave image, although I would think that caves are seldom that well lit: did you do much processing here?).
But I like the second even more, because that blue patch of the exit gives the image so much more depth.
