Hello, Everyone and thanks for making Contributions to this worthwhile endeavor,

This weekly thread serves as a place for those DPRevived.com members who own Fuji gear to share recent work …… specifically, with their Fuji X APS-C cameras. It's just fine for owners to post images made with their “other” cameras, but the idea is to allow owners with Fuji X APS-C cameras to compare notes, tips, and any other helpful hints.

To contribute your image, please respond to the original thread. Please include at the top your message a title to reflect what you wish to convey. Consider making it somewhat entertaining… it may add some “spice.” In addition to uploading/embedding your image, please tell us a little about the image if you wish. It is helpful to some of us who are less traveled to talk about the location of your photo if possible. If you can provide details such as camera, settings, and processing, that would be great for people reviewing the images.

If you wish C&C (comments/critique) please indicate that in your post. In this thread it should not be assumed everyone wants C&C. However, if you want specific feedback (composition, exposure, subject, etc.), don’t hesitate to mention it. It may be helpful to respondents what your needs may be.

    Thanks,

    Bob, your humble host

    PS…… Post away!

    From Pompeii to Sorrento

    Hello, Again,

As you may have seen the past few days my wife and I are on Holiday. Yesterday we visited Pompeii on a glorious day and then drove to Sorrento to a beautiful hotel on the Mediterranean.

Below is an image of the beautiful red poppies on the top of Pompeii before exiting the ruins. These have been dotting the landscapes since we landed in Rome. The culprit, Vesuvius, is noticed by the ancient statue. The second is a panorama at a viewpoint a few miles from our Hotel in Sorrento. The island in the background is Capri, where we will visit today.

Hope to see a lot of your images.

    Bob, your Host

GHO chick from the other side

This set is from the first day I saw the owlets on trees away from there nest. When I joined the group of photographers photographing them, we had the light behind us and were struggling to find holes in the foliage to see them. I left the group climbing a small hill placing me at the same level as the younger owlet with the hazy sunlight behind the owlets. As you can see I was rewarded with nice rim light, beautifully illuminated leaves and some nice views of the owlets.

Recently we were on a trip to Belize. Had a great time bird watching in the central part of the country. Had an opportunity to see an endangered Orange-breasted Falcon. It was an excellent trip.

Using Autopano Giga to proce high quality panoramas, with some issues

below is a sample, from my garden

    garden.jpg

Looking carefully at 100% following electric wires you discover several ruptures in a fine adjustment, same for the roof of the house in the middle. This "quick and dirty" sample was done handheld, the software does compensate for roll and light, but not for pitch or yaw. If the distance is quite big the ruptures do ,not appear.
    Nothing surprising
Here there is only the width of the garden, 5m, so even the smallest pitch or yaw made handheld is visible
Conclusion: need use a tripod !

below a sample handheld 10 files but at a quite significant distance, no problem

    Pileated Woodpecker at the feeder

    Pileated Woodpecker.jpg
Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge (adjacent to MSP airport)

It’s like shooting fish in a barrel, but I have a friend who is mobility challenged after a stroke. We sat on benches yesterday and let the birds come to us. The refuge offers a network of trails for those who prefer (and are able) to work for their images. (There’s an owl there that I have my viewfinder set on…)
