So sorry for the late response, Ulrik. Still finding my way around the new forum. What a beautiful little kitty. Thanks so much for sharing.

Thanks for posting this. Your choice of monochrome with the purplish benches is the better of the 2. Since the benches draw the eye in both images the monochrome adds much more interest.

    Hi Alan,

It looks like your Auto-WB did the usual cool and very magenta skew that often happens with these sorts of earthy scenes. Not sure about the best way to deal with this for SOOC jpeg shooters, but it's easy to correct with a RAW file - generally a slightly warmer Color Temp. setting along with a significantly greener (away from magenta) Tint setting.

I imagine the original scene probably looked something more like this...

It is hard to capture the beauty of those Chinese mountains. It was a long hike to get to that point but was totally worth it.
I took this shot with my X-T3 and 18-55mm @18mm. (Stitched 3 shots) around 8 am.

Beautiful shot, no mistaking that for where I live (Connecticut), that's for sure.

I never know what to post in these threads, but Ulrik's earlier post, inspired this bunch - making the best of when you screw up. These were all shot at midday at the side of the road somewhere between Grand Lake and Estes Colorado at 1/4000" with my usually trusty X-T20, but on this occasion I managed to bump the non-lockable SS dial from "A" to "4000" and didn't notice immediately. Except for the last one (which, despite the high shutter speed was properly exposed) the rest, being quite underexposed and not being especially good shots anyway, all wound up in the bin. Anyway, I decided to process a few and they don't actually look all that bad - very capable sensors and processing options we have nowadays...

We have a lot of grandkids! Here's just one bunch on Nancy's side.

    4-9-23 - Easter grandkids.jpg

The little gal on the far left had her 5th birthday yesterday. Nancy and I took her and her whole family to the zoo to celebrate. The place was packed over the Easter holiday weekend, so it was very hard to get good animal pics.

This may seem odd to those who know me to be a hunter, but zoos always bother me at the soul level. I know the animals are safer than if they were in the wild and well cared for, etc, but they aren't free. Somehow it's not right for the critters to be imprisoned. This guy looked very sad.

This fellow looked angry. I don't blame him.

These seemed a bit more adjusted to their fate.

Nice thing about "mistakes" with digital cams as opposed to film, is just what you found. You can rescue yourself nicely. What I took away from your images is I get to spend a little more $$$ and try out the Viltrox 13mm lens. Good rendering and color. I may rent one because I don't know the price off hand.

    Hi everyone,

In anticipation of DPReview's closing today I've moved over here. May DPR 2.0 thrive & prosper!

Today is a gloriously sunny day here on the Baltic coast. We went for a walk at the beach and I thought that would make a nice subject for an introductory photo here. I had to reduce the size to get under 4MB and just exported it as 80% jpeg - hope the quality didn't suffer too much, and if anyone has a better method, do tell.

I’ve been exporting from Lightroom full-size with the file size option at 4MB and the results look pretty good, even at 40MP.

I am trying to figure out how to post photos instead of just a thumb nail. Can someone help me out with that question? Thanks in advance.

I just found the answer to my question.
