A few from the Mother Road

I took the back roads on my way to the big city this week. Part of the back roads follow Rt 66. There were some decent clouds so I took my XE1 and 18-135 lens and made my trip take a little longer than jumping on the interstate. There's a good 30 miles of back roads to skip the interstate. They didn't look right in color so I processed them in b/w in C1 Express.

I've seen this old sign for a long time. Finally stopped a snapped a couple pics of it.

I did it... I got an X-T5. I am perfectly happy with my X-T3, but, I am lucky to have a few important photo opportunities this summer, where I can't risk having no backup camera. The IBIS, extra resolution, faster operation + AF did the persuasion. So far I am chuffed to bits. Here are just a few edited snaps:

Congrats! So, which will be the backup cam?????

    Bob

    Hah!... Thanks! :)

Well, that new one is going to take the lead I guess. 2 primes on each and then it should all be okay :)

Yesterday there were strong winds, high seas and "beach hazard" warnings.  Again.  Looking into the crystal ball yesterday morning, I saw "shopping", and not sailing, in my immediate future.....  😎

An Ocracoke house on the water.  I liked this house - if I was going to live here it would be in a remote house like this one. Unfortunately, buying even a small place here is far beyond my reach.

    More later, Red Gods willin'.

    Very nice monochrome processing.

Inner Wall Medieval Church Museum Florence

The intricate painting of the walls in the Medieval Churches is nothing short of amazing. The only issue when on a tour is to have enough time to image what I wanted to. Normally I would bring a small tripod, mount the cam and shoot at low ISO. Because of the regimented time I couldn't do that even though I had my travel tripod. Therefore all these had to be shot hand held at auto ISO at the fastest focal length. Luckily Topaz exists and one can recover a lot of the IQ. So, in the near future when all of you are sick of all the chuch and cathedral images, please note it has taken a bit of processing to get to where they are. 😁

Upper wall and Partial Ceiling Pano Spanish Chapel, Florence, Italy

    Hello, Again,

I am back home and tasked with processing a whole lotta images. Went back to the Church in Florence because the Spanish Chapel was so beautifully painted and I did not have a lens that adequately covered the area. Word to the wise….. for Fuji owners…. Take the 10-24, please! and you will need to do some noise cleanup which, based upon a pano below, can be easily done. Then go back and sharpen.

Pano originally was 10K in length. I downsampled to about 4500. Please take your time and observe the detailed painting. It looks even more remarkable in full res. AND I purposely left the image uncropped. Did not want to miss any of the image that came out. And it is fairly High Res!

Hope to see a lot of your images.

    Bob

Superb shot, Bob. Incredible detail. Beautifully captured.

Also a superb interior cathedral shot, Bob! I will be hauling around the 8-16 f/2.8 for our trip to Europe later this Summer. Hoping I can get results half as good as what you've posted here.
