    An Older Museum Wall Segment

This was one of the originals that was replaced. Not as colorful but a good example. Purposely left the lower left "crossed-legs" to give it some scale. These image posts are meant more for interest than examples of great photos. 😁

The Tower is not the Only Building!

You can live an entire lifetime and have a notion a famous landmark is central to an area. What a surprise I had when entering the area of the Leaning Tower! It was more than I expected! Did I take images with my wife holding up the tower with her hand? You bet! Did a good friend of mine scoff at the idea I was going to do that? You bet! Did I send him the image immediately after I took it? You bet! 😁

Really nice shot of the leaning tower, Bob. Particularly interesting because 99% of the shots I’ve seen are just that tower and don’t show the surroundings, which are quite interesting.

To be honest, the zoo is not really worth going to lol. It's pretty small, the aviary is practically empty, and the animal exhibits are not the greatest. They are building a new otter and primate exhibit which looks nice from the renders that I seen.

The butterfly exhibit is definitely worth going to and admission comes with the price of your ticket. What's great about this exhibit is that you can stay in there as long as you want. At other butterfly exhibits they limit your stay to 30 minutes.

A Tuscany Choice -- Our Wine Tasting Dinner -- a little more than a week ago.

What was better than the wines was the Grandmother's Lasagna with a little bit of Spicy Truffle oil on top. The best lasagna that have passed over my tongue in my entire life. Ended up buying the cookbook. Yum! Torciano if you are interested (and I do not work for them).

Lousy weather again today.  Spent a good part of the day cleaning up the boat, drying out the lines and cushions, scrubbing, etc, etc; and getting her ready for the long tow back home.  Nancy did a thorough housecleaning of the MH.  Camp this morning:

The rest of the day was exploring the island on foot and "shopping" at the little island shops.  I was able to tote the Fuji equipment for this. Today's POS (Proof Of Shopping) pic:

    Which do you prefer?

The Osprey was perched up on the hill. It's loud "chirp" gave it's location away. Resting on top of my car I took a few, using back-button-focus, something I haven't been using on my XH1. The backlighting in the sky was cloudy, not my favorite.

    DSCF2461-Enhanced-NR copy.jpg

Then, like they always do, it took a lunch break. I wasn't expecting the instant departure but managed a few, even using the different focus method. This time the clouds were gone. Both shots were from the same location, heavily cropped.

    [DSCF2460-Enhanced-NR copy 2.jpg]

The Osprey was only gone a couple minutes till it was back with the meal.

With the Avian Flu outbreak starting to have a fairly large impact on the bird population here in the Pacific Northwest, the outlook for the future is not encouraging. I've been trying to visit many of my favorite spots to enjoy the local wildlife as much as possible. A recent visit to a beautiful wetlands area nearby clearly showed a significant reduction in the numbers of birds to be seen. However, I did manage to find a lovely Egret who was kind enough to pose for me.

I had no idea about this avian flu event. I hope the population is able to recover, even though normally these things take time. I like the second photo, especially due to the leg movement.

Many thanks, guys. This is an area that I hadn’t visited for quite some time, and with the significant decline we’re already seeing in the bird population, I felt fortunate to find anything. My last couple of visits to area wetlands were literally “no shows.” It’s discouraging… maybe even a bit scary.

Wow! I had no idea about the flu. I'm in S/W Oregon, so may see the impact. My Hummingbirds that wintered here have disappeared and the numerous resident Hawks are nowhere to be found. Now I am concerned!

I'm glad you got your beautiful Egret shots though.
