Hello, everyone and thanks for making Contributions to this worthwhile endeavor,

This weekly thread serves as a place for those DPRevived.com members who own Fuji gear to share recent work …… specifically, with their Fuji X APS-C cameras. It's just fine for owners to post images made with their “other” cameras, but the idea is to allow owners with Fuji X APS-C cameras to compare notes, tips, and any other helpful hints.

To contribute your image, please respond to the original thread. Please include at the top your message a title to reflect what you wish to convey. Consider making it somewhat entertaining… it may add some “spice.” In addition to uploading/embedding your image, please tell us a little about the image if you wish. It is helpful to some of us who are less traveled to talk about the location of your photo if possible. If you can provide details such as camera, settings, and processing, that would be great for people reviewing the images.

If you wish C&C (comments/critique) please indicate that in your post. In this thread it should not be assumed everyone wants C&C. However, if you want specific feedback (composition, exposure, subject, etc.), don’t hesitate to mention it. It may be helpful to respondents what your needs may be.

    Thanks,

    Bob, your humble host

    PS…… Post away!

    Inside and Outside

The last image I will post of the inside if the Sistine/Vatican Museum is a gift by Germany of a beautiful piece of stained glass of the Virgin Mary. Our guide pointed out the fact she has blonde hair. The second is St. Peter’s Square. We were waiting for the Pope who made a 2 second appearance… literally.

And, hey, let’s see some image posting.

    Summer

In the village of Longueira, in SW Portugal's Alentejo province, there is this abandoned farm house. It has been like this for decades, but as time passes, it deteriorates further. I have photographed it several times before, but I like to return to it, it makes a good subject. This time, the surrounding fields has a few hay bales.

"We Wanted to See The Pope..... 😓"

But couldn't. To my back is St Peters Square at the Vatican. (Edit: I realized I may not have made myself clear enough..... In my title I wasn't referring to me but to all the people behind the barriers)

Hey! That's interesting. I lived in Bury from age 7 to 14, when we moved to London. I havent been back there for ages. I was looking at aerial photos of the centre of Bury recently. They have really destroyed it with the A56 and A58 cutting it up.

    Best,

    David

Old Rochdale is still there. They've added a new bit on the side which I haven't get got round to looking at with my camera.

I haven't been to Bury recently, so I have no idea what is there.

Continuing an Historical Jaunt through Rome

    The Arch of Constantine

The image below, The Arch of Constantine, is a triumphal arch constructed between 312 and 315 AD by the Roman Senate to commemorate Emperor Constantine I's victory over Maxentius at the Battle of Milvian Bridge in 312, which marked the beginning of Constantine's conversion to Christianity and the eventual Christianization of the Roman Empire. The arch, standing near the Colosseum (seen towards the right of the photo) and the Palatine Hill, is the largest of its kind in Rome, measuring about 21 meters high, 25 meters wide, and 7 meters deep (from Wikipedia). It’s adorned with reliefs, inscriptions, and statues that not only celebrate Constantine's victory but also draw parallels with previous 'good' emperors, reusing earlier artworks—a practice known as spolia. The dedication on the arch, attributed to the Senate and People of Rome (SPQR), declares Constantine as the liberator of the city and bringer of peace.

PS Beta was used to remove a few people blocking the foreground (and did a pretty good job).

A very nice set Alan. I like the way the light plays off railings as in the second. They make interesting elements in images, especially monochrome ones.

I liked the portrait especially from this set. For myself I would crop away some from the sides, use some perspective correction to make the verticals upright and tidy up the background somewhat. This is entirely personal preference. You may prefer it the way it is.

I communicated with Alan before posting this revision, in case any of you wonder. Also, FYI, I enjoy looking at images and often look through the image threads here. The only Fuji I own is an older 'point and shoot' I bought to carry about when I did not want to be bothered with a camera bag.
