It's great to see old 'friends' and new arrivals to the EOS M forum in DPRevived! Rather than each new member creating a new thread, to foster a sense of community, why don't each of us introduce ourselves in a common thread, to avoid cluttering up this forum? I'll start.

I'm Larry Rexley, from over in the dpreview threads (not my real name). I'm in Tampa Florida, have been using the M system for over two years and love the form factor, usability, and especially the M6ii feature set -- sort of my life-long photography dream come-true camera. I have all the native Canon M lenses plus as many third-party lenses, some of them EF telephotos that I use with the Canon EF - EOS M adapter.

I like to shoot city scapes, birds, sunsets, astrophotography, and lots of railroad photography and video using 'M'. I am the 'Tampa Train Guy' over on YouTube, and everything posted there is shot with the M system.

I have special interest in shooting infrared, and like to post and read about post-processing images. I feel that post-processing is as much a part of the process, and of the fun of photography, as using the camera. I'm a big fan of DxO PhotoLab 6 with its Deep Prime de-noise, and DxO Viewpoint for perspective correction, having created several DxO threads at dpreview.com on processing techniques.

I encourage other members to post in this thread to let us know a little about who you are and what you like to shoot, and what you like about M!

Heya! great to have you here!

I´m a resentful canonist, beaten by the cripple hammer for many years now. Out of spite (and love), I bought into M system yet again with M6 II.
Have 11-22mm lens, and will add 22mm and some more (fast primes kink).

I am also into the image processing, and would like to see more words/content about DXO. For the time being, Lightroom is unbeatable for me, but experience might change that.

I am also big techie, nerd, dev, DIYer, electronics guy, so I like to fool around with cameras, technology and go deeper than what is usual usage of the camera, just for sake of fun. Love math, but did not learn much of it. :-)

    Yo!

22 years, >1million shots, the m6II is one of my all-time favorites!

I have the R8 on pre-order so I'll let the community know what I think since I think this body will change the way I shoot.

    My favorite all-time glass is: 100L, m32 f1,4, RF 24-105 F4L

My choice of software is DXO PL

I'm thinking the R8 body will fall above my favorite M6II body.

Nice to have M forum again!

    Take care

Hi everyone, I live in Curitiba, Brazil, and reconnected with photography some 6 years ago following a long hiatus. I started with a Sony A6000 and a few lenses but the poor UI, 1.4 MP EVF and, mainly, the price of their UWA zoom (10-18) made me start shopping around. So after less than 2 years with Sony I sold everything to KEH and ended up with the M50 and a bunch of lenses, including 2 EF lenses now shared with the RP. Last November, when visiting the U.S., I could not resist a deal on the M6II, pulled the trigger and immediately fell in love with it, now being my go-to camera.

My favorite genres are travel and landscape photography but, living in a big city, with a big chunk of my time taken by a corporate job, I shoot whatever is available, specially by visiting one of the many city parks in the weekends (when a light, discreet kit is a must!). Or, when I don’t go out, having a cat in the flat really pays off.

I like post processing, have an older version of PureRaw (4, I think) and subscribe to Adobe. But the truth is I am trying to do as much as I can in my cell phone using Lightroom mobile as it is tough to feel motivated to open my personal lap top after a long work week using a computer at work.

Right now I am starting the get very intrigued by small scenes and black & white photography, with the creative opportunities it opens up regardless of weather and location. So I am now planning a project to document my local parks in monochrome using the M6II and my M lenses.

Happy to be here and learn from you all!

Yet another DPReview refugee here — I joined DPReview in Sep 2001, but have been a lot less active over there than many of you. At the time I was shooting with a Nikon Coolpix 950, with it’s split, rotating design (a camera I still have), and have gone through a number of Olympus, Canon and Sony digital cameras. (I actually got involved with digital cameras in the mid to late 90s, when I was part of a team at one of the largest computer manufacturers pitching digital cameras along with computer integration to the state & local gov’t market for ID systems — its come a long way since then!)

Hopped on the Canon DSLR wagon with an EOS 60D followed by a Rebel SL1, and a variety of EF/EF-S lenses (Canon, Sigma, and Tamron), that I still have and use occasionally. This year I leapt into the Canon M system, although I still have and occasionally use a Sony RX100 Mk III, a small Canon digital camera, and an Olympus XZ-1 I use for underwater photography. I have a M50 MKII, M6 MKII, plus a used M2 I picked up recently, along with a good selection of EF-M lenses (Canon & Sigma), and EF/EF-S lenses I mentioned above. I really love the size and weight of the M a system (in addition to the capabilities) as it will enable me to have my camera(s) with me a lot more frequently. I’m not nearly experienced in photography as many of you, but always eager to learn. And the area I’m hoping to work a lot on in the next little while is post processing as I currently do very little of it beyond crops as needed.

At age 65, I’m definitely not one of the younger guys here, but it appears I am not the oldest either. When I’m not working or traveling, you can find me hiking, cycling, backpacking, or chasing trains (real and model) — my favorites are narrow gauge steam trains in the US and Europe. Central South Carolina, USA is where I call home, but l lived for a long while in New England (outside Boston) before returning south. I’ve been fortunate to be able to travel extensively and I always love a good trip whether on the road, on the trail, on the rails, or in the air. To pay the bills I work in the tech sector by day…

Another refugee from DPReview which I joined in September 2001.
I am a full-time IT Consultant and a (very) part-time wedding photographer based in Cyprus.

My passion with photography started in 1970 when aged 11 I bought my first camera, a Petri 7s closely followed by a Canon QL17 rangefinder camera

Switched to digital in 2001 with a Canon G2 and then ran my wedding photography part-time job using Canon D-SLRs. In 2019 I decided to "retire" from wedding photography and gave most of my gear (Canon 5D Mkiii, Canon lenses) to my daughter who was starting out as a professional photographer.

I downsized to the Canon EF-M mirrorless format and currently shooting (incl. the odd wedding) with Canon M50/M50Mkii, Canon(11-22,15-45,55-200) and Sigma (30/1.4, 56/1.4) lenses and I absolutely love the format and the performance of the Canon M system. Apart from weddings, christenings and events, I love shooting fast-action sports like kitesurfing, mountain-biking, rallying, sailing as well as people and landscapes.

I am also a keen drone photographer (DJI Mini 3 Pro) shooting landscape images and "follow-me" videos of me trying to kill myself kitesurfing and mountain-biking.

Great to be back in an "M" forum.

    Hey guys,

I like the 32mm, and the reach I get with the M6II + Sigma 100-400mm contemporary. I also like to combine the M6II with the 70-200mm Sports, although this became the main job of the A7IV recently.
M50 + 18-35mm f/1.8 was my introduction in to mirrorless. I still love the pictures I could get with my first mirrorless camera.
The kids are shooting M100/200 with M zooms now. Great stuff.

Good see see you over here Larry ;-) Another DPR refugee here ;-) Thanks to Bob, Alan and team.

M6II combined with 11-22, 15-45 and 32 1.4 for me have no equivalents in R - and the M6II a cracking camera and these to me are 3 fine lenses. Use these plus the EF 60mm macro still as my favourite small kit even though invested in R. M6II got me into focus stacking too. R though rules for me for birding and larger wildlife, just pairs so well with the big whites. Amazing what the M6II can do with DXO Deep Prime - including with larger lenses - this one ISO 6400 and 70-200 2.8 II in Zambia - an amazing safari experience ;-) (Actual pixels centre crop)

I am here too (aka Maxmolly7), now Maxmolly.
Started photography with Ricoh/Minolta and on film in the mid 80s, switched to Minolta Dynax/Maxum in the mid 90s and went digital end of 2003 with Canon 300D.
In 2013 I switched from 7D to EOS M-system in order to reduce bulk and weight massively.
Today I am on M6 II, 2x M100 and many lenses.

However, my main travel cameras for trips by plane are Sony RX 10 IV and RX 100 VII. The latter is also my everywhere to go camera.
Photography is a hobby today and I shoot for pleasure with no intentions to go pro...

I'm another refugee from DPReview, where I was a very minor participant and contributor to the Canon EOS M Talk forum. I joined over there to learn more about the EOS M6 II that I had gotten as a step up from the PowerShot cameras that I had been using after I had given up my Konica ILC film cameras long ago. I'm just an amateur photographer who learned the basics while using my dad's Rolleiflex T and hand-held light meter to take B&W pictures on Tri-X and developing the results in my basement darkroom.

Participating, or I should more accurately say "following", the M Talk forum did the following for me: * Helped me learn a lot about the M6 II and how to use it better. I am still struggling with a lot of this, and have found it surprisingly hard to get out of the "film" mindset (where every shot cost money, and you only had 24 or 36 shots on a roll). * Caused me to buy into M more deeply (or perhaps it was just GAS), so now I have a backup M6 II, an M5, and an M200, plus most of the M lenses. * Encouraged me to learn more and try more things. I'm an average amateur photographer at best, so I have a long way to go - if I can find the time.

I'm still deeply disappointed by Canon's apparent abandonment of M, but I plan to keep using and enjoying my M gear for some time to come, and think it very unlikely that I will ever embrace R due to its bulk and expense.

    Hey Everybody-
I am still going by the handle "Passrider" and I'm glad to have found this forum now that DPR is disappearing. Have really enjoyed the conversations and I appreciate the feedback I received from some of you on the old site. Like others on this and the old site, I am still learning the craft and trying to squeeze time in for photography. I am currently shooting on an M6II and M6, looking to part with an M3 I no longer use. I have the following lenses, 11-22, 18-55, 55-200, 18-150 and a Sigma 30 1.4. I am also using a 70-200 f4 IS and 100 L IS. My preference is shooting landscapes, although I am looking forward to learning how to shoot people, as well.

Thank you to those of you who have helped to create this new forum to keep moving forward.

A little late, but hello all! Also from DPReview, M user since 2015. Here's one each from my M3, M6, and M6II.

As some of my posts indicated, I like taking M to rock concerts, where I usually sit far off and shoot with the 55-200. Here's one of my earliest with the M3, Muse:

And my other favorite subject is cats. One with M6:

    Hello, all.

I'm here with the same username as I've had at Dpreview since 2001. It's nice to reconnect with so many friends here.
