What Story Will You Tell?

Friday morning we headed off to Oshawa, Ontario for the OMHA Red Hat weekend. It is a playoff event to determine the 'number one' teams in Ontario in junior 'rep' hockey at different levels determined by the number of players in each area. The grandson's team plays in the Under 14 (as of Dec 31 of 2022) 'A' level. Some larger areas (population wise) may have teams playing at AAA, AA, and A levels. Our team drew the most difficult division with two of the three teams advancing to the finals for the Ontario championship. If was a tough weekend but considering the calibre of the other teams they played they did well. I have only processed one image from the games so far. The other two teams in our division were extremely physical, i.e. you were going to take a beating!

The image below is the grandson, a defenceman, taking one of the opponents into the boards to take him out of the play. This player happened to be one of the smaller players on the other team but all of them were physical and 'in your face'!

I had not been home for more than a few hours when the grandson texted wanting to know when I would sent him the images!! People have no idea what is involved in doing so until they actually do it themselves! 4300 images at high iso all needing processing before they are presentable.

The players were disappointed by the results but they had a good time hanging about in the hotel after the games. They are spread out over a fairly wide geographical area locally so they don't get to spend a lot of time with each other when they are not playing. Tournament play is the exception to that.

The last time I did a commercial shoot, the wife of the client had seen a picture in which I had fixed up my cousin's old face and neck. She demanded, after the price was set, and after I had done the work, that I fix hers. There were several dozen pictures with her face in them which she had selected to be fixed. I told her she already knew my price is $250/hour and each one would take 1 to 2 hours work. She told me I was trying to rob her. I told her my work was cheaper than a face lift. Her husband laughed at that so she took it out on him. You can't do that in this case, so get back to work. Rich

Worked in the garden for a few hours this afternoon and on images for a couple of hours. Now I get to watch tv with my wife for a few hours before she goes to bed and then the work on the images resumes. If it is nice outdoors again tomorrow I may start on the tractor's spring maintenance and take off the blower and install the lawn deck. Sharpening blades is not much fun but it is cheaper than buying new ones. I will have to examine them and make sure there is enough left to make sharpening desirable.
