Okay, I constantly see many people obsessing over what equipment they have. Let's forget that we've (mostly) all spent too much money on camera equipment, if your XXX equipment disappeared tomorrow, and XXX was gone and no XXX equipment existed used (think movie Yesterday), and you needed to buy new camera equipment - from scratch - What would you buy? You have no lenses, no adaptors, nothing remains from your XXX memory whatsoever.

Thankfully, this is simply an exercise to move you out of your box (Leica box in my case). Really, an exercise in thinking about photographic creativity rather than equipment make or model.
For me, it's a no-brainer. I considered Sony the best in the industry, so I would continue with my Sony gear in the absence of Leica.

While my first impulse is to say I would buy another Z6 used (my primary camera) I honestly wonder if I would bother to replace anything at all. I rarely shoot post Covid, don't travel meaningfully anymore, and I might buy a Ricoh III and just say fug it.

    Mmmh, something like
    - bigger than full frame: Fujifilm GFX100s
    - DSLR full frame: Canon 5DIV
    - full frame mirrorless: Panasonic S5II for general use or Sigma fp-L for more reflected/posed pictures
    - APS-C: Fuji XT-5
    - Silver: Rolleiflex 2.8F

    With either
    a standard prime around equivalent 45mm f/2.0
    a trans-standard zoom around equivalent 24-70 f/2.8

If all my equipment were gone I would have to think long and hard about moving to mirrorless. It would probably be the Nikon Z7ii with a 24-70 and 70-200.

My current thinking is that I have all the camera bodies, lenses and accessories I need to last me the rest of my life so I have no plans to purchase anything else.

Should this have been in the Leica forum somewhere?

Marc, what's the lens? I love the hood shape.

Thanks. I want that JJC lens hood on some of my lenses. I'll see what they do.

Just the opposite of the OP, if my Sony gear vanished and I had the money I'd indulge in Leica, which I've always wanted to anyway.

If every canon, Leica, Fuji camera and lens that I had or have ever had disappeared tomorrow and I could buy ANYTHING thing that I wanted to replace it with but ONLY one thing (I.e. one MILC and one lens, or an 1” sensor walk around, or medium format digital body with one lens, or a film camera and one lens)……. ONLY ONE camera….. I would buy a current generation, large MP, flagship smartphone.

For me that would be the Sony A7RV and the 200-600. No other lenses needed. That would be today anyway.

Are you trying to make me dissatisfied with my current gear, to question whether it is up to the quality of my stunning pictures, or whether new gear would enable me to take even more stunning pics?

Well, thanks, but if my Canon R6 were to disappear, I think I'd save up for a later model Canon. Anything by a different manufacturer would mean that I should have to lose time figuring out how to make it work.

Or maybe I'd just stick with the Sony RX-100 and spend time figuring out the menus for that one...

    Hi,

A Fujifilm GFX 100 and re-buy most of the Pentax 645 and 67 lenses I already have with my P645D.

Dunno what I'd get to replace all the Nikon lenses and my Df. I think I'd add a couple Fuji GF lenses to go with the GFX body and see how well that'd work for everything first. If I can get away with just the MFD, then that would be great. If not, then it'd probably be a Nikon Z9 and a couple Z mount lenses.

As of now, I would probably buy Sony RX 10 IV and Rx 100 VII (or if ever available their successors) again and, skip any other system devices.
Both cameras serve me well when I travel by plane and, I like their convenience for not to be bothered by changing lenses.

It all depends on the budget so my 3 options are:

    If money is no object ($12,000): Leica SL2, Summicron 35mm f2, Elmarit 24-70mm f2.8
If money is kind of no object: ($6,500) Canon R5, Canon RF 35mm f1.8, RF 24-70mm f2.8
If money is on the short side: ($2,500) Canon R8, Canon RF 35mm f1.8, Canon RF 24-105 f4-7.1

For service after the sale, I would probably stick with Canon.

Either Fuji GFX 100S...or Leica M11 (maybe even the Monochrom).
Lenses for Fuji: at least the GF110 f2.0...and then probably a nice wide angle or wide angle zoom.
    for Leica: NOCTILUX-M 75 f/1.25 ASPH or the SUMMILUX-M 90 f/1.5 ASPH + (again) a nice wide angle....maybe the SUMMILUX-M 21 f/1.4 ASPH...well ok...I would have to add a proper 35mm ofcourse (the APO-SUMMICRON-M 35 f/2 ASPH would do very fine, thank you)

And that's all without money being an issue...which it still is ofcourse :-)
Depending on your M11 setup, LeicaMan, I could even go as far as to exchange my Sony gear for one of your M11 cameras + lens(es) :-)
