Two pictures - one the foreground is sharp, second, background is sharp. Just curious as to which you prefer.

You‘ll have to make both out of focus: 😉

I think the one with the background in focus is probably more interesting here.

I would try to get it both sharp.

It depends on your whim. In the first the white things might be birds or boats. In the second you can identity foreground and background elements but the blurred foreground is visually distracting. If knowing those are boats is important, then the second is preferable. If not, then the first.

I'd push them through PS or similar and blend them into one.

    Second one, with sharp boats.
And like others said - I too would attempt to blend those images to make everything sharp.

It would depend on what the picture is of - the boats or the trees. Surely not both?

If the boats, they are overwhelmed by the trees.

If the trees, the white sails distract the eye.

If anything, I would blur the foreground as much as possible and focus on the four nearest boats.

    For example:

Might increase the chroma to bring out the water color.

In any case, I disagree with merging the two to be equally sharp.

    I agree. It looks doable.

    Another go for the boats:

Made a mask from a depth map, so not as much blurring and power lines more intrusive, Added a slight elliptical vignette. Upped the chroma of the water with an inverse mask.
