I’m here, but I’m just waiting to see how the various DPR options pan out and where Sigma discussion looks lively and friendly but not biased by internal trolling.

Hey guys, I just joined too. I have to say I don't know if I will stay. I'll try to post a photo.

O.K. I tried, but got a message saying it was bigger than 4 MB. That's a bit sad.

I used the fluorescent WB and a green filter - a watten #58, but it only works with one of the three such filters I have one has coatings that block nearly all IR, another (gel) doesn't block any. Other than the filter & WB there was little additional processing, I don't think I played with levels etc, though I might have tweaked the hue slightly - certainly nothing drastic like a channel swap. Without the foveon sensor things are definitely more difficult.

I'll add them to the new IR section dprevived.com/c/infra-reduv-photography/115/ later on as a separate thread

Hardly surprising, most forums don't allow images that big - hosting costs just grow dramatically (perhaps one of the reasons Amazon pulled the plug).

If you host elsewhere and link to the image I think this gets round the limit, but IMO a reduced image shows the composition etc perfectly & reduces the chances of image theft. I usually rescale to around 1000 pixels in the bigger dimension then save as a JPEG with between 80 & 100% quality - this usually gets image size below 1Mb

its right there when u press share

    Nope.

Interesting, BBCode does NOT appear on my android cellphone when I press 'share' Only the quick link cited above shows up.
However, I'm now using my old Lenovo Windows computer and 'BBCode' does show. I'll try to embed this cropped photo of a helleborus, Lenten Rose, rather than totally boring everyone with a repeat of the previous pond-side cherry trees. All photos are on flickr, rather than uploaded here.

Scott, I've succeeded in linking to my 33MB Foveon blue trees photo which is hosted on flickr. I cannot upload it here, obviously as it's above 4MB. But the BBCode link works to embed the photo for viewing. See my post (below/above/somewhere) that you need to copy/paste a link that says 'BBCode' rather than just the regular Flickr link.

Is the text with links added by Flickr's BBCode around/under your image OK with you?

If not, we can fix that as previously discussed,

    Broken record Ted ...

It is fine with me, in fact useful if someone viewing the photo here wishes to see it in a larger version, or EXIF and lens info which is at flickr. The text link appears active above on my cellphone.
Big take away from this discussion is that android cellphone view of 'share' is NOT the same as the computer view. I bet this confuses more people than it did me.

And depending on my view (desktop computer) sometimes that stuff starts half-way up an image on the right side and continues underneath. A couple of carriage returns inserted into the BBCode can put the text where you want it - instead of just relying on this forum's auto-line-feed. See your quote above which I have edited thus ...

Yes, I was struggling with that when first trying to advise you over there.

    Excellent !!

I've been "discussing" this matter with somebody on DPR who decries forum size limits and wants fora to accept 50MB and more!

As to JPEG quality, I usually post at 4:2:0 chroma sub-sampling (2x2) and 100% quality (mildest compression).
