Who remembers the Fujix DS-300 1.3M CCD?

A camera that didn't go unnoticed in 1997
It was the first compact camera to exceed one million pixels.
Unfortunately, its price turned many people off, myself included šŸ˜–

    The magnificent Fujix DS-300
    1.3M CCD sensor (1997)
    1,280,000 pixels (1280x1000)
    248,000 Yen or $2,400.00 USD
    With PCMCIA card

I decided to compare it with my Fujifilm X-T5, to get a better idea of how Fujifilm has evolved over the last 25 years.

    Fujifilm X-T5 (2022)
    40 MP APS-C sensor (7728 x 5152)
    Price: $1,699.00 USD
Photos taken with the Fujifilm XF 56mm f/1.2 R WR
and the Fujifilm XF 35mm F2 R WR
    (multiplication factor 1.5)
    ISO 125-12,800 (Ex 64-51200)

Finally, the X-T5 is $700 US less expensive than the DS-300 in 1997.

I have the full comparison here on Flickr...

And I'd love to hear your thoughts on the general evolution of Fujifilm cameras.

I've always liked Fuji cameras.I've had quite a few - was taken over by Canon when they brought out the 20D in 2004 and stayed with them till this year. But now back with Fuji again.

The X-T5 is my first X series one. I don't think it will be my last. At the moment, I can't decide between another X-T5 body or the new X-S20.

In the end, I prefer the X-T5's rear screen. 😈
