Hi has anyone with this lens Viltrox 75mm F1.2 Pro tried it with FUJINON XF1.4X TC
Will it work with this lens? I have a feeling that it will not but checking here first before getting one.

Probably not. The 80mm f2.8 macro will.

    Hi,

The critical first question is whether it will even fit the lens. The protruding front elements of the TC have to go up inside the rear of the lens. Unless you already own the lens and can check it, you would need to see a photo of the rear of the lens to get a gauge of this. The rear elements would have to be well recessed and not move rearwards at any focusing distance. Like Morris, I think it's unlikely. Then 2) Will the electronics work? You need to be able to control the aperture and FBW focusing. I can't particularly see why they wouldn't, but who knows. And then 3) the optics..... TCs behave better with some lenses than others. How well would it perform with the Viltrox? We don't know. I've found the Fuji 1.4x TC very flexible. It delivers very good results with a variety of my adapted lenses. The only way to find out is to test it, if it's feasible to mount it. If you do find out, please let us know.

    Regards, Rod

Beyond the valid concerns already expressed, it is also quite likely that the 1.4x was designed for f/1.4 max aperture at the very most. The TC's front element is quite small compared to the rear element of the lens. So, you're losing more than the regular one stop. This loss shows up at all apertures. Overall, not an optimal situation.

Actually, it was designed for f/2.8. They had to design an entirely new TC for the 200 f/2. So yeah, even if it fits, probably not a great result with a 75 f/1.2.

Thanks Morris I have the 80mm f2.8 macro will give it a try.
Can't think why I didn't think of that too much kit maybe?
I was looking at the 75mm f1.2 Viltrox but thinking about it I don't really need it better to save money for now.

Test of 80mm f2.8 + 1.4TC in the garden looks OK to my eye.
