Mostly focus, shake and shutter shock issues. There are many more issues in there, but given the timespan and reliability/repeatability of the gear/test, I can mostly forgive them that.
Among other things, lens changing, focus changing, light changing, shots aligned by eye, uncontrolled reflections, uncontrolled flare, sub-optimal light sources, photos fading, no info on SPD, no spectral data of the target, no flat field.
Well, I don't know how others have it, but proper focus/sharpness check on the test photos is vital part of the procedure in my book. Even more basic/trivial than "101" practises. How in the world could they not keep that in check. That is not lack of care, it is close to willful negligence. π€¦
I can see how item position, item version or lighting situation can be tad different in time, but not this.
FWIW I just saw a Tony Northrup video where he suggests that "someone inside DPReview" is in negotiations to buy it.
Just saying.
Don't shoot the messenger. π
We will see.
I remain cautiously optimistic that this is trueβ¦while accepting that I find it completely believable that Tony Northrup would make that video based on no more than the statements Richard Butler has made publicy in DPR comments.
I stated as much on DPR a couple weeks back, even suggested that the closure notice was intended to add time pressure and extract concessions in negotiations with a buyer. The post was in no way inflammatory or in violation of any protocols. My post turned red as I posted, disappeared immediately, and blocked me. I am done with them
