Funny, it's just about the only DPReview feature we haven't been asked for. Now, if someone does, we can say 'the community's against it'.
To me it always smacked of 'my camera's more pro than yours so I'm a better photographer'.
But you have time on your side. Looking at the poll on age, and given that you mentioned yours, more than most anyone here. Statistically of course, but also hopefully actually.
Why leave it blank? It will not always be so, and the info is useful for those who interact with you and who want to offer positive criticisms and encouragement.
It depends on other posters to some degree. There are some very knowledgeable people who are still on dpreview only, especially in the printing forum. If they were to come here I'd leave dpreview, but as it is I'd continue visiting both.
Whether DPReview closes or not I certainly wont be staying here. The only reason I have been lurking here is because it is fascinating to observe the parallels with Orwell's Animal Farm. With all the usual suspects from DPReview pushing their personal obsessions and gleefully delighting in their new found freedom/power.
And all controlled by the Supreme Moderator himself. How many threads have you locked so far, professor Newman?
ALL CONTRIBUTORS ARE CREATED EQUAL BUT SOME
CONTRIBUTORS ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS
I left Instagram and tiktok to escape trolling and people giving out grief. I wasn't expecting it on this forum that has an age demographic over around 60 years old. Why can't everyone just be nice to each other, we all share the same hobby, some are more experienced than others but its not a competition.
Just to add to this, remarkably the most recent “update” re the site closure has just disappeared entirely from the DPReview front page, as has the blue banner announcing the closure at the top of every page. It’s as if the closure announcement never happened. Clearly there is more news coming soon.
