The Most Viewed Photograph is probably the Windows XP Desktop photo Bliss. It was the default on XP and many people didn’t change their default Windows XP Wallpaper.
I think that there is a story behind it. It’s 30 years old now. Shot with a Mamiya Medium Format Camera.
I must admit to seeing this photo for the first time -- today: and I am not sure what the big deal is about it: I have always used a black background on my desktop.
Most people do not change their computer desktop background. I too changed it first day - but I've seen that image on numerous computers, it was iconic one. Maybe the fact that here almost no one uses Mac (or Linux), or at least did not use in Windows XP times, helps too :)
It’s hard not to remember that iconic image—it was everywhere back then.
Even though I personally worked on SGI workstations and also on Macintosh computers starting in 1984
Interesting.
As a photographer, I find it invaluable to slide show my photos as the background.
You can never tell when one of them will pop up and prompt you to revisit a shot or even a whole shoot.
Actually back in the days of XP I wrote my own screensaver (using different lead in effects) to show images I liked (they weren't mine - I wasn't making photos back then). Just the other day I had the thought of revisiting that screensaver to do just what you mention and for the same reason. Too many shots are easily forgotten...
B,
If you can live with just one Source Directory, you can just use the well buried Personalisation/Background/Slideshow in Win11. Might save some code work vs Win 11.
Once in a while I go in and change the target.
Yes that's a start. But it wasn't an overly complicated piece of code. The graphical effects are already built into windows so it was just a matter of learning how to implement them. I found it visually appealing to have a random lead in effect - slide in, grow in, expand, etc. The housekeeping around creating a screen saver wasn't too complicated either and there were examples available - I must revisit it - and make it available for others.
